They first connected online, where they shared a string of messages that felt easy and fun, and then, radio silence. Tom had vanished from the app. But Luciel was curious, she remembered he’d just started working at a bar in Brooklyn, so with a friend, on a summer night, she went to find him. He wasn’t behind the bar, and just as she was about to leave a note… he appeared. “Hi,” he said. “Do you remember me?” she asked with a smile. Of course he did. They exchanged numbers and quickly made plans, not for just dinner or drinks, but for wine in a hammock at McCarren Park. Their first kiss happened under that one special tree, followed by pizza at Motorino, shuffleboard at Lucky Dog and an effortless night that stretched on like they’d known each other for years. They took things slow and during a trip to Costa Rica, Tom realized Luciel was the one he'd been looking for. Around the holidays, they made it official. In 2020, the city shut down, but their world opened up. They moved in together, laughed till their cheeks hurt and made many home-cooked meals (made by Tom). After moving into a bigger apartment, Nara joined the family as their joyful, fluffy sidekick. Since then, it’s been years of having lots of fun and growing together. Supporting each other through ups and downs, dinning out, dancing, going to art galleries, taking trips to the Caribbean, hosting parties, spending summer days at the lake, and enjoying (many) delicious drinks along the way. Now they’re ready to celebrate the start of their next chapter, in the hometown of Luciel's mom, on an island they both love. Cheers!
