Visa & Customs
Please check to ensure you have a valid passport and that it does not expire within 6 months of your travel dates. CUSTOMS At customs, you will be asked to pay $10/person in cash for the tourist visa card (please bring exact change only). You may also be asked to state your occupation when passing through immigration. Keep your response simple, general, and accurate rather than giving an overly detailed job title. For example, “Marketing,” “Finance,” “Education,” or “Engineering” is usually sufficient. To ensure a smooth entry, avoid bringing non-essential electronics. For example, only bring one phone and one laptop per person. Do not bring video game consoles, drones (they are illegal), professional cameras, or other similar devices. If you need to bring a second laptop (for work), you will be asked at customs to prove it is a work laptop. IMMIGRATION FORM During your flight, you will need to complete an immigration form (1 per person). For the address, please input the InterContinental Hotel’s address (Frente A Centro Comercial Metrocentro, Managua 14005, Nicaragua), and for a contact in Nicaragua, please input the InterContinental Hotel Front Desk: +505-2-2768989. Staying somewhere else? Same protocol: provide the address and contact info for your accommodations. DEPARTURE IMMIGRATION FORM When departing Nicaragua, you will need to complete the same immigration form used upon arrival, this time with the departure information. Before your flight, please stop by your airline’s check-in counter at the airport to pick up the form and complete it before proceeding through immigration.

Local Currency
The official currency is the Nicaraguan Cordoba (NIO). U.S. dollars are also widely accepted. Most major credit cards are accepted at hotels and restaurants. 36.62 Cordobas = 1 U.S. Dollar.

Getting Around
Getting around Managua is straightforward, but it is not a walkable city. We recommend pre-booked private shuttles or approved hotel taxis. Ride-sharing apps and rental cars are also available. Do not hail street taxis on your own. AIRPORT & WEDDING EVENTS We'll provide shuttles to and from the airport and to and from all wedding events. Detailed pick-up schedules will be shared closer to the date. CAR RENTAL Several rental companies operate at the airport, including National Car Rental, for which we have arranged a special rate. National has 2 locations in Managua: one at the airport and the other 8-10 mins from the InterContinental Hotel. You can also hire a driver for $55/24 hours if you do not feel comfortable driving in Managua. For National reservations, you can call or message at +505 8734 8969. Mention “Boda Condos Navarro” or “Lucia Teran” to get the discounted rate. RAY APP (RIDE-SHARE) There is no Uber in Nicaragua, but there are several other ride-share apps. We recommend using the Ray App, which is considered the safest and most reliable app-based transport option for city travel. As with the Uber app, you select your vehicle type and capacity on your phone. CASH IS KING Always have cash on hand (US dollars are accepted) if, for some reason, you need to pay for a ride outside the app, tip, or get to a location where ride-share service is limited. TRAVELING OUTSIDE MANAGUA For day trips or multi-day journeys between cities, you can rent a car at National and hire a driver, book tourist shuttles, or take approved hotel taxis. You can coordinate through the InterContinental Hotel or use a tour operator. If hiring a driver from National, lodging and meals must be provided (not expensive).
