Excursion near Brasov

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Location & exact schedule TBD.

We'll be organizing a half-day trip to a point of interest on Friday. This will likely be to one of the area's castles, such as Vlad Dracula's castle (Bran), the royal estate Peleș, and/or the medieval fortress Râșnov. We will post more details on the website once this is finalized, but first need to know how many people to expect!

Religious Ceremony

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Biserica Buna Vestire (Church of The Anunciation)
28 Strada Nicolae Iorga, Brașov, BV 500057, Romania

A Romanian religious wedding is typically a long and deeply symbolic Orthodox Christian ceremony, during which most guests stand throughout the service. Key rituals include the couple and their godparents holding lit candles, the crowning of the couple as "king and queen" of their new household, and drinking wine from a shared cup. Expect the ceremony to involve a lot of singing by the priest, a ceremonial walk around the altar, and a joyous exit where guests often throw rice for prosperity. Our religious ceremony will be a unique insight into Romanian traditions, and we encourage all guests, if able, to attend. Church seating will be present but may be limited - wear comfortable shoes! Guests typically wear daytime cocktail attire for the church ceremony before changing into something more formal for the reception.

Reception

5:00 pm

Dress to impress!

Romanian weddings typically have 4-7 pre-fixed courses, including a fish course, a meat course, and a course for ‘sarmale’, a traditional dish of cabbage leaves stuffed with meat and vegetables.

Post wedding brunch (Ciorba de Potroace)

10:00 am

Casual attire

Ciorba de Potroace is a deeply rooted Romanian tradition, a sour and savory soup served the morning after major celebrations, like weddings. It is served as a restorative meal designed to reinvigorate guests after a long night of feasting and dancing. The meal symbolizes the continuation of hospitality and care beyond the main event. Though soup will be a main dish, other food will be available as well.
