How We "Met"

January 25, 2017

As many of you know, I (Kaitlyn) am a recruiter for Capstone Logistics. I was having a heck of a time finding a Warehouse Manager in Southaven, MS, so I went on CareerBuilder and started my search for candidates who didn't apply to my ad that I could "cold call"... and there he was. I printed out his resume, and made the dreaded, "I know you didn't apply for this job, but are you interested in hearing more about it anyway?" call. I did my phone interview like I would any other time, he went through the interview process, and of course, got the job. (Fun Fact: The first day we spoke was my parents 32nd Wedding Anniversary)

How We Started Talking

January 29, 2017

One night he went to "text his son" but (accidentally) texted me, "Are you ready to watch The Walking Dead, Pal?" I responded with, "I don't know a Paul, but I think you have the wrong number". Fate sent that text, because once that wrong text was sent, we never stopped.

First Time Meeting In Person

June 18, 2017

He lived in Memphis and I was in Atlanta so, it was a lot of texting, phone calls, and FaceTime. 6 months into it, we couldn't take it any longer so we decided to meet "half way", which I later found out was 4 hours for him and 2 for me, at a park in Alabama. We spent the whole day walking around, talking, and just enjoying each other's company. As the night approached I got really sad and even cried when we said goodbye. I remember driving away so upset because I thought I would never see him again, thankfully he drove away thinking, "I'm going to marry that girl someday", and I'm SO GLAD he was right!!

How He Proposed

December 24, 2019

Was it a surprise? YES Did I know it was going to happen? NO We had discussed getting married numerous times, and during all of those conversations I asked him not to do it on a holiday, or in front of a ton of people... and what did he do?! He didn't listen! BUT he wanted to ensure that I wasn't expecting it so, he proposed to me on Christmas Eve in front of my family (and Friends on FaceTime). I'll never forget how I felt in that exact moment, as I leaned in, gave him a kiss, and instead of saying "Yes" I whispered, "Are the kids okay with this?!" haha. I of course eventually said yes!!

What Happens Next?

Forever and Ever

The rest is basically history, and many people know what happened after that. 3 1/2 years, 2 houses, and 3 dogs later and here we are, getting married! Most people say, "It's been a long road to get here", but not for us (or me at least)... life always has it's ups and downs but it hasn't been a long road to get here... it's been the most exciting road I've ever been on, filled with lots of laughs and LOTTS of Love. I'm excited to see what the rest of our lives have in store for us, and one things for sure, I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else!
