Michael and Elizabeth met the good old fashioned way... at a bar (lol) through mutual friends, and groomsmen, Nolan and Richard. After crossing paths not once, but twice, they spent a Sunday evening chatting away, getting to know one another. They shared a kiss at the end of the night and not long after parting ways, Michael asked Elizabeth for a date. They went for drinks two days later and the rest, as they say, is history.

Michael took Elizabeth to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for her birthday in February. She admittedly had a feeling the proposal could happen on this trip and tried not to focus on it too much, but 'what a great birthday present,' she thought. The first day on the mountain Elizabeth decided to try snowboarding and spent the day in a class while Michael hit the slopes for the first time in many years. He finished skiing early, while she was nearing the end of class. She texted him to come back to the mountain and take a video of her (trying to) snowboard. He was taking a while and she was getting a little frustrated that he was taking so long. He finally came back to the mountain and captured a quick video to send to her parents. Now she could finally go relax and get those bulky snow boots off and enjoy a nice warm hot toddy. As they were standing in the courtyard, just off the mountain, Michael, for whatever reason, said he wanted to go back and stand on the snow. She assumed he was just being nostalgic and happy to be skiing again so she let him go and waited in the courtyard for him. Once he was out on the snow he motioned for her to come and meet him. Well, if you can imagine, she was exhausted and done with the mountain for the day and shook her head "no." A minute later he motioned for her yet again to come meet him out there and she shook her head more dramatically to tell him "no." A second after that refusal, she decided to oblige his nostalgia and put her snowboard down. Just as she got to him and was wrapping her arm around his waist, he turns and engulfs her in a hug while telling her how special she is and how much she means to him. She still didn't realize what was about to happen.... As Michael lets go of her, he gets down on one knee, ring in hand, and asks Elizabeth to marry him!! It was a complete surprise as it was the day before her birthday and she couldn't stop ugly crying. They celebrated the evening in true form: with a hot pizza & some bubbly.
