The Origin Story

The beginning of our story starts at Murray State University in 2017. While our paths never officially crossed, we had several close encounters with one another. From being at the same events, working at the CFSB Center at the same time, to photos of Elizabeth sitting on the couch in Sam's room at Olive. We both went to school having virtually no idea about the other person. Enter SSG. Hannah Crawford: Elizabeth's sorority sister and Sam's friend/neighbor. Sam and Hannah had become friends while preparing for a campus cheer competition. Elizabeth and Hannah had become friends after Hannah convinced Elizabeth to take her officer position in their sorority. Throughout our time at Murray, we both continued to hang out with Hannah, just separately. In 2019, Hannah was preparing to deploy. At the time, Sam had graduated from Murray and was living in Louisville, and Elizabeth was back in Louisville for the summer. Hannah wanted one last night out before her deployment, so she drove up to Louisville and decided that she and Elizabeth were going to hang out with Sam and his friends. That night, we officially met. But to be honest, we didn't even talk that much because Elizabeth was too busy yapping with Sam's friend Michael. The night went off without a hitch and both of us wished Hannah the best as she left for her deployment. A couple of years passed, Hannah safely returned to the United States, the pandemic happened, Sam returned to Murray to become a teacher and Elizabeth graduated. In March of 2022, Hannah was living in Owensboro and decided to come to Louisville to celebrate her birthday. Hannah decided her and Elizabeth were once again going to hang out with Sam and his friends. That night, we talked more. We got the entire bar to sing Happy Birthday and Tyler Childers to Hannah. And at the end of the night we went our separate ways. The next day, Hannah told Elizabeth she wanted to move to Louisville. By June, Hannah had done it. Suddenly, we went from seeing each other once every couple of years to every single weekend. Each time with Hannah and other friends at O'Sheas. Then one fall Saturday, Hannah was at drill and every other friend was busy or out of town. So, Elizabeth texted Sam and asked him to hang out under one condition: "We can go anywhere but O'Sheas." Sam agreed. Cut to an epic bar crawl throughout one of our favorite Louisville neighborhoods that lasted into the early morning hours. From there, we kept spending time together. From watching meteor showers, cheering on Lou City, going to the Jug Band Jubilee, hiking, competing in a ping pong tournament, watching football, to exploring Louisville and Cincinnati. Since the fall of 2022 we've been stuck to one another like glue. Now it's 2026, we are so in love and so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. We're forever grateful to Hannah Crawford for bringing us closer together. It's crazy how things work out.
