Our Favorite Haunts

The Wedding Website of Kelly Ashton and Mark Anderson
Asheville is a great town to visit! If you've never been here, you're in for a real treat. (No tricks!) From LOADS of Blue Ridge hiking trails, an overwhelming amount of incredible restaurants, more beer breweries than any other U.S. town, and an abundance of unique shops to browse in our quaint mountain town, you should consider extending your trip into a getaway! Also, October truly is the best time to visit Appalachia. You're welcome.
Biltmore

Biltmore

1 Lodge Street, Asheville, NC 28803

This one is obvious, but also a should-not-miss, if you’re from out of town and have never been! If you’re into history, architecture, gardens, Bridgerton, or Downtown Abbey, you’ll be happy you made the day of it.

Mount Mitchell

Mount Mitchell

NC 28714

Mount Mitchell is the tallest peak, east of the Mississippi, and boasts some really beautiful hiking, as well as an amazing 360° lookout platform at the peak. (The parking area is just a short walk to the lookout peak.)

Chimney Rock State Park

Chimney Rock State Park

431 Main Street, Chimney Rock, NC 28720

This state park isn’t too far from Old Fort, and has one of the coolest rock formations in the state! You can challenge yourself to hike the stairs up to the top of Chimney Rock, ooooor, they do have an elevator!

Max Patch

Max Patch

Max Patch Road, Hot Springs, NC 28743

Max Patch is, hands down, the best place to watch sunset in the area. That is, if you're up for a bit of an adventures drive, and a short but steep, hike. We frequent this mountaintop bald a LOT, as it really is THAT beautiful. Pack a picnic, some blankets and warm layers, and enjoy the beautiful drive out to Max Patch. This spot is FAMOUS for photoshoots and, again, catching that sunset. The Appalachian Trail also passes directly over the bald, so if you want to make a day of it, pack those hiking boots, too! If you have the time, it's 100% worth it!

Summit Crossfit

Summit Crossfit

21 McArthur Lane, Asheville, NC 28803

If you’re a CrossFit and wanting to drop in to a great WOD while in town, I hiiiiighly recommend Summit CrossFit, DUH! Summit cf has been my CrossFit home since I joined the sport, and now I’m the morning coach at this gym, the largest cf box in Asheville! Come workout with me and see my place of work! (Fun fact, my MOH and her husband are the owners!)

Nine Mile

751 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806

This is our favorite local place for dinner. They have 3 locations and multiple vegan and gluten free options. It’s Jamaican influenced faire!

Biscuit Head

733 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806

And, this is our favorite breakfast/brunch spot! They, too, are a local chain, with 3 locations. Biscuits done up RIGHT.

Burial Beer Co. Asheville Taproom

40 Collier Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801

This is one of the most favorite breweries in Asheville. (And their name is on theme.) Although neither of us drink beer anymore, we do remember how tasty their beers really are! Plus, as an added bonus, they are in the heart of the South Slope region of Asheville proper, where most of our popular breweries reside.
