You will be flying into Sofia Airport (SOF). The airport has 2 terminals and is connected to the city by Metro and Taxi.
Train
Metro from Sofia Airport
The Metro line that connects the airport to the city is M4 and is located next to Terminal 2. If you land at terminal 1, you can get a bus that will take you to the 2nd terminal and catch the metro from there. Tickets can be bought through the machines at the metro station. The ticket price is 1.60 BGN / 0.82 €.
Travel Note
Taxi from the Airport
Taxis are available at both Terminal 1 and 2 and there is only one Taxi company that operates from the airport. The price to the city centre is about 15 EURO. Cash is best for this type of journey; they will most likely not take card. In general, fares are 0.74€/km in the day and 0.84€/km in the nights (after 22:00). The journey starts at 1.49€ in the day and 1.69€ in the night.

Europcar
Most of the European Car Rental companies are available in Bulgaria and located at the airport. Think Europcar, Enterprise, Hertz, Top Rent Car, Sixt. You can book a car in advance and pick it up from the airport.
