Bride
Lorie has a Libra rising, Libra sun, and Libra moon - which means she is a rare Super Libra. So, if you want to learn more about her, you can try reading a Libra horoscope. Lorie loves art, balance, and fairness (as all Libras do); she loves her friends/family, and of course, she loves her handsome fiancée Troy (also a Libra!), and their kitty cats, Iris & Olivia. Lorie can't believe that she's about to be a bride!
Groom
Troy grew up on the idyllic enclave of 187th Street in Hollis, Queens - it's where he would make many lifelong friends. During school Troy played baseball, basketball and football and he also played saxophone. He's still a sports lover and plays softball with the Rebels every Saturday in the warmer months. Troy is a beer connoisseur (just ask to see his Untappd beer journal) and a Karaoke... LEGEND. Troy loves many genres of music and even has a bass guitar that he hopes to one day master. Troy can't wait to dance the night away with Lorie and all of their fiends and family at their dream wedding.
Maid of Honor
Nuit and Lorie met when they were about 18 years old and they've been BFFs ever since. Through the years, Lorie has become part of Nuit's amazing family; and since they're both only children, that makes them kinda like sisters. Lorie could not have any other Maid of Honor. No, really, she wasn't allowed to.
Best Man
As kids, Eugene and Troy lived across the Street from each other on 187th Street in Hollis. Their friendship has lasted over 40 years - longer than 90's expansion teams in the 4 major sports leagues! They share a love of the Knicks and Mets and have still managed to coexist all this time being opposites with their football/hockey teams (Eugene: Jets/Islanders, Troy: Giants/Rangers).There's still one story about their adventures Troy hasn't told Lorie - but he thinks its the story that'll make the best man speech. We'll see if he's right.
Bridesmaid
Gen and Lorie met in Capoeira class in 2006, where they would continue to train for over 10 years together with Gen's now husband, Francisco. So far, their friendship has brought them everywhere from marathon lunch dates in LIC, to doing cartwheels in front of the pyramids of Chichén-Itzá, to dancing in the streets of Havana, Cuba. Gen is a world-traveler, a serious foodie, and a wonderful friend.
Bridesmaid
Aja met Lorie when she was one years old. Yes, she was one, but she was such a sassy little bit, as soon as she could talk she let Lorie know that she thought they were both Nuit's daughters and that she would squeal on her if need be. Through the years, Aja has been like Lorie's sister, niece, daughter, and friend. Now she's all grown up, but still sassy.
Bridesmaid
Anastasia met Lorie in 2018 while they were studying for their Master's Degrees in Arts Administration at Baruch College. Pretty early on, Anastasia roped Lorie into joining the board of their student organization, and they've been partners in crime ever since. Traipsing across the Hudson Valley on art-related adventures is one of the things they love to do together.
Bridesmaid
Doris Elena is Lorie's 2nd cousin on their dads' side. Can you see the resemblance? The two were reunited about ten years ago and became fast friends with lots of shared interests. Whether hanging out at the Alcove in Sunnyside, or on a mountain hiking trail in Cold Spring, they have fun wherever they go. Doris Elena is a talented chorister, so don't be surprised if she belts out a tune.
Bridesmaid
Jenny and Lorie probably met in a nightclub around 1999. "Probably" because they were too busy dancing to really notice. But through they years, as they went to more and more of the same house music parties, they eventually became good friends. Turns out Jenny is a lovely, supportive, positive, and fun-loving person - and she knows how to cut a rug!
Groomsman
Troy has known Dennis for nearly 40 years. And yes, he's from Hollis, too. Dennis' mom probably fed Troy more than anyone besides his own mom and grandmother. It was at one of Dennis' family gatherings that Troy first ate Dinuguan which became his favorite Filipino dish to this day. Dennis joined Troy, and Eugene on their 40th birthday adventure to Europe (look up #TEDAdventures2017 on Instagram or Facebook).
Groomsman
Jan Michael, AKA Tyke, is formerly one of New York's Bravest and now he's "Going Postal." Troy and Tyke first met at a Philippine Independence Day Parade over 25 years ago and have been great friends ever since. Tyke is one of the most generous friends a guy can have. Tyke is also part of the Comic-Con Crew, along with his wife Jocelyn, and the next generation, Miggy.
Groomsman
A dear friend in his own right, Ahab is standing up as a groomsman for Troy, and standing in for his brother Khalil, who sadly passed in 2021. After his passing, Ahab told Troy that he is an Abuhamda; that was one of the most important things Troy had ever been told. Troy and his friends miss Khalil tremendously and it means so much to have Ahab help carry on his brother's memory and be part of this important day. Just mention Khalil's name to Troy or any of the groomsmen and you're bound to hear a story to provoke a belly-laugh.
Groomsman
Ryan and Troy first met at a house party on 182nd Street in Hollis. Since then, they've been like brothers. They were even roommates along with Lee and Dorin, for several years. Even though they no longer share a house, Troy and Ryan stay connected on many things such as their shared Halloween/birthday bash, watching pro wrestling, going to Marvel movies, and their annual pilgrimage to Comic-Con. Ryan still cooks amazing "roommate dinners" which Troy and Lorie are lucky enough to be invited to. Ask Ryan for his Chicken Bastos recipe.
Groomsman
Shawn and Troy met in 7th grade at Grace Lutheran Day School and were schoolmates through high school. Shawn went away to Texas Southern University and came back changed, to say the least. Shawn is known as the man of 1000 nicknames; perhaps a lucky single lady will learn a few of them in Cancun! He's also known for his Karaoke performance of Ginuwine's "Pony" that ends with most of his clothes on the floor. Seeing is believing! Troy and Shawn had a bet since high school, on who would get married first; it's the first bet Troy is happy to lose - but he also thinks Shawn committed to bachelorhood just so he could win.
