Zilker Metropolitan Park
The site of Austin City Limits Music Festival, Zilker Park is a gigantic inner-city park. This place fills up on the weekend so get there before 2 pm for good chances at parking. You can also access the park by scooter, or walking. Great for enjoying a nice day and dog watching.
Lavaca Street Bar
A no-frills sports bar in downtown Austin that has been there forever. Attached to it is a kitchen serving po-boys and baskets of fried food. Lots of TVs, a pool table, and an open bar make this a great lunch spot. Grab a scooter after and hit the lake which is a 5-minute walk.
Austin Central Library, Austin Public Library
Yes, we are recommending a library. Recently built, this amazing building is awesome to look at and has floors of cool interactive installations. Take the elevator to the rooftop to catch some unbeatable views of Ladybird Lake then work your way down the stairs to see what catches your eye.
Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden
A beer garden and sausage house you cannot go wrong spending a day at bangers. Expect a long wait for big groups on Saturday and Sunday when they have live music. Bangers is located on Rainey St. which is a street of residential houses that have been turned into bars with music and large patios. If you are looking for a daytime party this is where you'll find it.
Mount Bonnell
Those looking for exercise can take a light hike up Mount Bonnell and enjoy the views. For those looking for a bit more, you can follow the trail for a longer hike.
