The world has been turned upside down and with it our original wedding date. The new date for our wedding is June 11, 2021.
Loren and Max met in the most likely place; In Mexico on college spring break. It was 2015, and Loren was a sophomore and Max was a junior. Max came right up to Loren on the beach and introduced himself. They talked a lot for the rest of the trip and on the last night, Max invited Loren to have dinner with his friends. They were playing hangman and Max spelled out, "KISS ME," and in the most cheesy way ever... it worked. After Cancun, they both went back to their regular routines and didn't talk again until that summer after Loren came back to Austin from a trip home to California. Loren was at her apartment pool in West Campus when Max showed up with his future best man Alex "Kaufy" Kaufman. They reconnected that day and were inseparable for the rest of the summer. Little did they know that that summer would turn into the rest of their lives.
Loren and Max had an amazing final year of college. Taking trips, going to football games, and nights out on 6th Street. When they graduated, Max stayed in Austin and Loren moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern. They were fortunate enough to have seen each other every 4-6 weeks for the next two years to develop their relationship further and make memories in many of their favorite cities. While Loren was in Chicago, it only got more clear to both of them that they were meant to be together, despite the challenges that come with being in a long-distance relationship. So they decided that when Loren graduated, she would move back to their city to live together in Austin. Loren moved in August 2018, and since then, they have had the most amazing year and a half together. Capped off by a truly amazing surprise...
Once Loren and Max knew that they wanted to get married, they started to design a ring together. This was a really special process that also gave Max some time to plan an unforgettable proposal for Loren. He quickly realized there was no way he could do this without having the people most important to them there. Max started talking with family and friends about potentially being able to travel to Austin for the proposal. As the "Yes's," rolled in for the proposed date, he felt like he had some momentum. With the date set, Max chose Doug Sahm Hill at Auditorium Shores as the location. A beautiful outside spot in downtown Austin with a view of the skyline. On the day of, he took Loren to a rooftop bar to have a drink and told her they were meeting up with friends to go to a "concert". After the drinks, they hopped on scooters and as they were cutting through the park Max led Loren to the hill. Once they got to the top, Loren saw the flowers waiting and realized what was happening. Max told her this was the easiest decision he's ever made and asked her to marry him. From there, they hopped in a pedicab that was waiting to take them to the Fairmont Hotel where Max had friends and family gathered. It was an amazing surprise and they continued their amazing night with an Italian dinner at one of their favorite spots, and a stay at the Fairmont. It was a very special day and it would not have been possible without the help of some of the people that mean the most to them.
