Maid of Honor
A lot of people Maya met later in life she knows entered at the exact right time, but she thinks she and Annie would have become best friends no matter when they got to know each other. Annie and Maya met while working together at The Baltimore Sun and have bonded over loves for their perfect cats, Robert Pattinson, board game double dates and staying up way too late yapping. You can often find them at the movie theater (popcorn required) or spending an obnoxious amount of hours grocery shopping together (sweet treat required).
Matron of Honor
Sabrina is quite literally the only person Maya has ever traveled all the way to France to visit. Fate placed the two of them under the same editor at The Baltimore Sun, Sabrina invited Maya to join her for trivia two minutes into knowing her, and the rest is history. They've loved dancing together in Paris, working from tiny coffee shops and being the only ones to actually use their floats from Five Below while lounging in pools on beach trips.
Bridesmaid
Abbie and Maya met while working at The Baltimore Sun and although they only bylined one story together, they formed a lifelong friendship that's sure to consist of hot girl walks, shoulder shimmying on the dance floor, attending music festivals and always being willing to call it an early night. Abbie is constantly inspiring Maya to use more exclamation marks!!! in everyday life.
Bridesmaid
Abby and Maya let their shared love of bubble tea and The Breakfast Club bring them together as college roommates. But it was when Abby agreed to doing Howl-o-Scream three hours away just months into their friendship that Maya knew they'd be inseparable. From weeklong Georgia lake getaways they'll never forget to day trips around Maryland and Virginia, Maya and Abby always find new ways to adventure together.
Bridesmaid
Journalism has brought Maya many besties, but she's only gotten to run a newspaper with one of them. Hannah and Maya clicked from the moment they met in 2016 and have belted to Hozier live, belly laughed late into the night in their questionable sophomore apartment and even faced down a potential lawsuit together. Since Hannah now lives in Alabama, they've traded D.C. brunch date for hours on FaceTime.
Bridesmaid
Yazmeen is the person in Maya's life who always makes it feel like no time has passed at all, even when many months (or years) go by without them seeing each other. They became best friends in kindergarten and spent years in the same classrooms and at cringey middle school dance parties. From using their Girl Scout cookie money to go to Mickey's Merry Christmas to visiting the parks together as shameless Disney adults, Maya is grateful to always have Yazmeen by her side.
Flower Girl
Maya met Ellie when the latter started at The Baltimore Banner and quickly became the most enthusiastic person in the room. Ellie asked to come to Maya and Cody's wedding a month later, and it's her unapologetically bold spirit that makes Ellie such a treasured part of Maya's life. Ellie is a friend Maya can easily read next to for hours but also someone who will try anything just for the bit, bringing joy everywhere she goes.
Flower Girl
Kristen and Maya work on the education team together at The Baltimore Banner, and it's incredible they get any work done sitting across from each other when all they do is laugh. They both love a cozy night in and marathoning the classics: Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games. Kristen is a fiercely loyal person who enjoys a good karaoke performance and the whimsy of a Renaissance Fair, which is why she and Maya were destined to be friends.
Best Man
Cody and Noah became best friends when they were introduced in middle school on Xbox. The first time they met in person Cody actually called him by his gamertag. They've been close ever since and no matter how much time passes or distance grows between them, they know that they can always count on each other to be there. Cody is beyond grateful that he gets to have him as his Best Man at his wedding. Being his Best Man meant the world to Cody and he can't wait to get to return the favor!
Groomsman
Alex and Cody became friends sometime early in high school while playing Destiny. Ever since then, they have been super close! He's been a friend Cody has only ever met in person a few times before the wedding, and yet he is one of Cody's dearest and closest friends. He's been there for everything and Cody and Maya owe him endlessly for his support in both of their lives.
Groomsman
Doug has been a kind and inspiring friend since the day him and Cody met. Cody had always wanted to go into teaching students who have special needs. After meeting Doug and seeing how much he truly loved his job it really pushed Cody to follow his dreams! Doug also was Cody's job recommendation at his current job where he has been for the past two school years and he cannot thank him enough for his friendship and support!
Groomsman
Ethan is the friend that can always get Cody out of his shell! It doesn't matter what time of day it is, or the day of the week. When he lived in Baltimore he could almost always guarantee himself a drinking and going out partner by just texting Cody, "What are we doing tonight?" He has always been a good friend to Cody and supported the couple since the day he met them. He and his wife Sabrina were two of the first friends Maya and Cody made after moving to Baltimore.
Groomsman
Jacob has been one of the most consistent friends Cody has ever had. They love to get together and just game for hours when given the chance. Anytime his girlfriend and Maya would be out of town it was a guarantee the two boys would be gaming and grabbing Taco Bell on the way to whichever house they were going to be playing at for the night. Cody is thankful to have such a staple friend in his circle.
Groomsman
Kevin became Cody's friend in one of the darkest parts of his life. He had just moved back in with his adopted parents from college and didn't really have a group of people to hang out with until he'd found a store you could go to and game. Which is where he met two of his favorite things to this day: Kevin and Magic the Gathering. They were even gym buddies pre-pandemic jamming out to Tech N9ne and Hollywood Undead while getting sick gains and iHop on Thursdays after completing the week.
Groomsman
Marcus is quite literally the brother Cody never got. They connect over the nerdiest things and love to talk smack about the games they enjoy. One year he called during the Game Awards to argue over who's preferred game was going to win that year. (No surprise Cody's did because Elden Ring is far superior to GoW: Ragnarok). They get along so well and their bond has only grown the longer they have known each other.
Groomsman
Noah and Cody hit it off in the summer of 2024 when they both started working at BLS. Noah had just moved and they ended up being in the same classroom 3 hours a day for all of Summer Program. They quickly started a Baldur's Gate 3 run (that still hasn't been finished) and the rest is history. Since then Cody was a groomsman in his wedding as well and they go to the gym together a few times a week. They also really connect over their love for board games and really bad jokes.
