It was December 2020, COVID-19 vaccines had not yet been released and Bumble was the only responsible way Cody and Maya could think to meet people. A match, a few FaceTimes and one first date at the Silver Moon Drive-in Theater later, they'd never been more thankful that their generation isn't afraid to talk to strangers on the internet. Cody and Maya started officially dating January 18, 2021. They spent their first two years in Lakeland, Florida together, near where they're both from - Maya grew up in Miami and Cody grew up in Tampa. They both love theme parks and haunted houses, meaning there's a chance they traversed Halloween Horror Nights or Busch Gardens at the same time long before they ever officially crossed paths. Over about five years, Cody and Maya have spent more days doing their favorite things than they can count. That includes wandering Disney (Epcot and Figment are Cody's favorites, while Maya prefers Animal Kingdom and never gets tired of seeing elephants in real life), binging movies and TV shows, singing boldly at concerts for their favorite artists, and gaming and reading side-by-side. They've had the chance to explore places like their hometowns, California, the Caribbean, Virginia and of course Maryland together, over countless plane rides and road trips. Fun fact: Just months into their relationship, Cody and Maya once spent four hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic trying to get into a water park, and they laughed and talked so much they had more fun there than on the slides. They often go entire road trips without even needing to turn on the radio. Cody and Maya have called Baltimore home since August 2022, and they've never loved a place more. They adopted a cat, Persephone, together in September 2021, and that little diva runs their lives. They welcome you to come check out their Highlandtown neighborhood, where they've never had a bad meal and love spending time at their community coffee shops and in the park. They both feel they've truly found their community in Baltimore and can't wait to welcome all the lifelong friends they've made here to the happiest day of their lives, joined by the family and chosen loved ones who have supported them over nearly three decades.
