How We Met

His timing, our beginning

We met in high school. I remember walking into English class as the new girl, and Daniel told me I should sit in front of him because the seat was empty. We started talking and getting to know each other (well—on the days he actually showed up). I found myself looking forward to class, hoping I’d see him, and little by little, I started crushing on him. By senior year, we had completely different schedules and didn’t see each other much, but whenever we did, we’d catch up and hug like no time had passed. He was always in the back of my mind. After graduation, the last time I saw him was when we took a photo together—and I kept that picture for years, always wondering how he was and hoping our paths would cross again. Then he vanished. He went off to the Marine Corps, and no one really knew where he went—he just disappeared like a fart in the wind (yes, really). Fast forward four years later, out of nowhere, he found my Snapchat and messaged me. Super romantic, I know <3. We decided to hang out and catch up “just as friends,” but the moment we saw each other again, we knew. We were meant to be together.
