PLEASE READ BELOW ABOUT SCHEDULING RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS WHILE IN TAMARINDO AS YOU WILL NEED A NEGATIVE TEST WITHIN 1 CALENDAR DAY OF YOUR FLIGHT TO GET BACK INTO THE UNITED STATES. COVID-19 Travel Requirements: Entry into Costa Rica: Starting April 1st, Costa Rica is eliminating the need to fill out a health pass form for all foreign travelers (vaccinated or non-vaccinated). Travel insurance is not required. No quarantine is required upon arrival. While in Costa Rica: Mandatory mask use and temperature checks remain in force before entering commercial establishments or activities. Proof of vax not required. If you get COVID-19 while in Costa Rica, you must quarantine for 7 days (even if you test negative during this time) and must pay for your own lodging. Entry back into the United States: All airline passengers to the US ages 2 years+, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must provide a negative COVID-19 Antigen test taken within one calendar day of travel. At-home tests are NOT acceptable. Where to get Rapid Antigen tests (for US travelers) or PCR tests (if required by your country) in Tamarindo: • We have received a group rate of $60 per person (just mention you are with the Gausepohl wedding to get this rate). You can email CRCOVIDTEST@GMAIL.COM to arrange for this team to meet you at your hotel or AirBNB to conduct a test the day before you depart. • If you are staying at the Tamarindo Diria Hotel, you can arrange for an Antigen test for $70 USD (or PCR for $120 if needed) by emailing pruebacovidtamarindo@gmail.com (cc' hola@bioanalitica.net) at least 5 days in advance. • Hospital Metropolitano: PCR and antigen available. It's hot. The average temperature ranges between min 24°C (75.2°F) and max 33°C (91.4°F) and it's rare to need a sweater, even at night. Everyone should bring 1 pair of closed-toed shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, sunscreen, sun spray, money and credit cards (USD are widely accepted), and your passport. For electrical items, In Costa Rica the standard voltage is 120 V and the frequency is 60 Hz (the same as in the USA). Gents, pack flip flops, sunglasses, boardshorts, shorts, t-shirts, short-sleeve or light-weight button-downs, one light sweater, and (optional) a pair of boat shoes/loafers. Ladies, pack flip flops, swimsuits, sun hat, sunglasses, light-weight dresses, shorts, t-shirts/tank tops.
Yes, the water is safe in Tamarindo. You can drink it, brush your teeth with it, eat salads and consume beverages with ice. If you are visiting other areas of Costa Rica or Central America, please use Google before drinking the water.
