I’ve known Segi literally forever. I got used to being the only daughter, but she ruined my plans as she normally does. I have to say, I am grateful to have grown up with a little sister. We are alike in many ways, but we are also different and I’ve come to admire so much about her. She’s ambitious and isn’t afraid to take risks. I’ve watched her chase her dreams of being a lawyer, while running her own small business as a beauty mogul and entrepreneur. I’ve known that whoever would be lucky enough to marry her would be incredible, and I am so glad that her and Akeem found each other. Hey, my name is Azeez. I am Akeem's younger (handsome) brother & best man. I've obviously known Akeem all my life but met Lola a few years ago when they began dating. After a short period of time, I could tell right away that they were meant for each other. I couldn't be more proud of how much Akeem has grown since they've met. I met Segi her first year in college. I had been dating Tosin for a few months and we both were going to UCR. I remember when I knew we would be friends. Their mom was having a birthday celebration and I was nervous because I didn’t know anyone that would be there, but Segi and I drove together and clicked immediately. I didn’t grow up with sisters, so her accepting me and being so excited about Tos and I was great. We’ve had ups and downs, but she’s always rooting for me- and I’m so happy to be standing by her side rooting for her. When I first met Akeem, he instantly meshed well with the family. When he told me he planned to propose to her, I was so excited! He’s a great uncle to my kids, and he compliments her so well. I love you both so much. I can’t wait for the celebration!

We met at church when I was in 5th or 6th grade. We would always see each other outside of church occasionally since our moms are ironically best friends. Our moms would have lunch for both our families— and thanksgivings, well until Segi moved across the world to Corona 🙄. Come college time, we started hanging out more and more. Woohoo I’m finally a bridesmaid! When Lola popped the big question, of course I had to say yes😉 Lola and I go back to college days which already seems like so long ago 😩. Funny thing is, I knew of Lola before I actually met her. Before we met, people around our campus used to always say I looked like “a girl named Lola.” Someone even came up behind me calling her name and after that, I spent the whole quarter wondering who this “Lola girl” was. Thank God I finally found out because we would later become roommates post college and lifelong sisters.💗 I am so happy for you both Lola and Akeem! Lola and I met our Freshman year at UCR. She walked into our dorm lounge with her friend and introduced herself. I awkwardly said “omg my weave is named Lola”. Now thinking back, I completely understand why she looked at me like I was a weirdo because who says that when they first meet someone ? I probably should have said my alter ego is Lola. Fast forward, a year later we both pledged Delta Sigma Theta and became soul sisters for LIFE!

I met Akeem through a mutual friend, she would always tell me she knew someone in LA that looks just like me. Of course, as many of us would think, I don't believe her. Until I finally met Akeem in Chicago, it was really like looking in a mirror (unfortunately, in this mirror I was just a couple inches taller.) Honestly, since that moment he's truly been my brother from another mother. I'm proud of him taking this big step and I know he's going to do everything in his power to make Lola the happiest woman in the world! I'm truly happy for these two and I can't wait to hear them both say I DO!

I met Lola in high school but I really didn’t get to know her until we went to law school together. When I decided I wanted to go to law school, Lola became my mentor and go to person.
