The Wedding Website of Lauren Kalogridis and Derek Head
We will be hosting all of the wedding weekend festivities on-site at the Sorensen's Resort in Hope Valley. We primarily chose this venue because it has capacity for the majority of our community joining us to stay on-site in some way. We know this is a long journey for many of y'all, and we wanted to streamline and simplify the logistics as much as possible for everyone, especially limiting the amount of driving needed around events. Although we hope many of you will be able to stay on site in an option that is a good fit for you, we're including other options as well. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions as you think through what makes most sense for you!

Hotel

Sorensen's Resort

14255 California 88, Hope Valley, CA 96120
 (530) 694-2203

Sorensen's whole resort will be blocked off for our celebration from Friday through Sunday, so we'll have the place to ourselves! The property is beautiful, with a great deal to do on-site. Guests have access to a wood-fired sauna, hiking trails right off the back of the cabins area up the mountain, a swimming hole 1/2 a mile down the road at the top of the campsite, and fire pits for hanging out. There is also a restaurant and bar on-site, and many of the lodgings have kitchens or kitchenettes in them as well. There are options for cabins of different configurations; a limited number are more private and others are designed for bunking up. There are also options for camping or staying in yurts in the campground 1/2 mile down the road. Please note that the resort is located out in the mountains and has limited cell phone service for many carriers. There is wifi available at the central buildings at each area of the resort. Wylder has discounted the room rates available when guests call and ask to book for our wedding. Rates will range depending on the size, capacity and layout of the cabin. For those coming from afar who hope to make this into an extended vacation, Sorensen's has also offered to extend the discounted rate to days before and after Friday and Saturday nights for you, if you mention you're coming in for our celebration. Please let us know personally if you're hoping to stay onsite! We're going to do our best to help coordinate a bit on the backend, so as many people who would like to be onsite can do so. **Please note that since booking our wedding, the resort has come under new management, and is now called Sorensen's Resort, not Wylder Resort. Everything but the name is the same :)

Hotel

Woodfords Inn

20960 California 89, Markleeville, CA 96120
 (530) 694-2111

For those who are hoping for some extra separation from the festivities or a reduced price point, the Woodfords Inn is 10 minutes down the road in the town of Markleeville. Because we're expecting the majority of attendees to be staying on-site, we don't anticipate arranging a shuttle service; we will add updates here if that changes. Woodfords Inn is a small local motel, with a total of 20 units. They have traditional double bed rooms, as well as some singles. Prices for a room range from $225-250/night depending on seasonal bookings.

House Or Rental

Airbnb

There are also some great airbnb options available. We'd recommend looking in the Markleeville area (15 min away), or headed towards South Lake Tahoe near Echo Lake or Nebelhorn areas (about 30 min away). Please keep in mind your comfort with driving on dark mountain roads, if you're considering this option.

Travel Note

Rent a Camper Van or RV

For guests who are looking to be a little more adventurous (or who are hoping to consolidate costs), you could consider renting a camper van or RV as both your transportation and lodging. Wylder has a campground as part of the grounds with plenty of room, and their communal campground bathroom is a little rustic but has hot showers and flush toilets. On websites like Outdoorsy or GoRVrentals.com, there are many options in the $150-$300/night range. (Some of the vehicles even have bathrooms!) We're still firming up details on the camping fees, but will add those here when we get them- they'll certainly be less than other lodgings.

Rental Car

Getting Around

Because Uber/Lyft options are unreliable in this area given how remote it is, we recommend renting a car. We are happy to help coordinate car-pooling/car-sharing options between folks attending from different places if you're interested- just let us know and we'll do our best to link you!

Flight

Reno-Tahoe International Airport

Wylder is about an hour drive from the Reno-Tahoe airport.

Flight

Sacramento International Airport

The Wylder resort is about a 2-hour drive from the Sacramento airport.

Flight

San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland Airports

Other airports in the Bay Area might be options for you depending on your extended travel plans. They are closer to 3.5 hrs from Wylder and Hope Valley.
