4:00 pm
Derek and Lauren will be arriving at Sorensen's Wednesday late afternoon/evening. For anyone else in the area this early, come pop by and say hello! We'll be settling in and hanging out around the resort that evening in the Aspen Grove. Sorensen's cafe serves dinner nightly until 8pm, or see our suggestions on the "Things to Do" page for restaurants in Markleeville or South Lake to try out.
10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Breakfast on your own: Sorensen's serves complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the cafe in the mornings & has some limited breakfast options for pre-order the night prior. Or try one of the recommended local spots! Come join for a picnic and a day on Lake Tahoe! We've rented a canopy with picnic tables on the beach, and we welcome everyone to hang out and enjoy a laid back day outside. Round Hill Pines Beach has a bar for food and drinks onsite, as well as rentals for kayaks, jet skis, SUP boards, etc. If you'd rather bring food or alcohol from outside, there are many restaurants and a Safeway grocery store just outside the park. They do prohibit glass, but cans are okay. Parking is $12/car for the full day, so we recommend carpooling. We have access to the park and our reserved canopy from 8am-sundown. Derek & Lauren plan to arrive 10am-ish and depart around 2pm, but feel free to go early or stay late! Beach bar menu: https://www.roundhillpinesresort.com/beach-bums-menu
5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Come stop in any time between 5-8pm for some BBQ (GF & Vegan options included) in the nearby town of Markleeville. Dinner is on us, and drinks will be available to purchase if you're interested :)
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Breakfast on your own: Sorensen's serves complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the cafe in the mornings, and has some limited breakfast options for order the night prior through the front desk. Or go explore one of the recommended spots! Although the original plan for Friday was to take a hike to one of our favorite swimming holes, the massive snowmelt from this winter has the rivers raging and unsafe to swim in currently. We're shifting gears to a nearby park for Camp Field Day! We'll bring a picnic, and you can join us for crafts and field games (or just to hang out!) Meet at the nearby Grover Hot Springs State Park in the Day Use Area. We strongly recommend carpooling, since there is an $8/car parking fee and there are limited spots. The day use area is quite shaded with tree cover, with flush toilets onsite.
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Attire: Whatever you want really! We'll be in something a step up from jeans but nothing too fancy. Remember to bring layers as the sun goes down!
Come join us onsite for a low key night to kickstart the official weekend. We'll gather for a laid back dinner and drinks, accompanied by some storytelling around the campfire. We'll have some designated speakers but there will also be time for anyone who feels called to do so to offer a few additional words. S'mores will come out as the sun goes down!
7:30 am - 10:30 am
Come enjoy coffee and espresso on us provided by one of our favorite local roaster- Old World Coffee. If you'd like to have breakfast onsite, Sorensen's Cafe will be serving breakfast from 7:30am-10:30am. Most cabins have kitchens as well if you'd like to do your own thing, or check out the guide page for other local spots to check out a bit farther away.
4:00 pm
Although we were originally planning on a ceremony in the top of the campground, the river there is raging so much it's very loud, so we decided to relocate! The new ceremony location on a platform up the mountainside behind the cabins is very intimate. There will be some limited bench seating reserved for guests, but we're humbly asking most of our guests to come join round in a more informal manner- meaning perching on rocks, finding a seat on blankets, or standing. The ceremony will likely be around 20 minutes, so please let Derek or Lauren know if you have any access needs and we'll make sure to incorporate into the planning! Guests will reach the ceremony location via a short path that has uneven ground so no need to impress with fancy shoes!
5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Attire: Mountain Cocktail- aka most people will be wearing some version of a suit or dress but really we just want folks to be comfortable and feel like themselves. Opt for shoes you feel sure-footed in and layers for when the sun goes down!
After the ceremony, we'll head down to have cocktail hour on the Sorensen's Cafe Deck. Dinner will begin in the Aspen Grove around 6pm, with speeches and dancing to follow!
10:00 pm
The reception will technically end at 10pm, but the party will continue from there with more dancing, campfires and s'mores. There's a chance that because of a noise ordinance starting at 10pm, we'll move the party down to the base of the campground, with a shuttle service running from 10pm-2am. Stay tuned for the finalized details on this location piece during the wedding weekend!
9:00 am - 11:00 am
Before parting ways, come join us in the Aspen Grove for a brunch the morning after from 9-11am. Old World Coffee will be there from 7:30am-10:30am as well to serve up coffee to fuel your journeys home.
