Please be sure to bookmark this page for future reference so you can check back once you have received formal invitations for more details on our schedule, FAQ's, details, where to stay, and more. In the meantime, feel free to check out our gallery, a bit about our story, and (if it's live) our first draft of our wedding registry.
While we do still have more guests to invite who did not get advance Save the Dates, this will be a more intimate wedding and will not involve every member of our families or friends at the event itself. While we would love to celebrate with everyone, we know how difficult it is asking everyone to fly across the country for us - and with how detailed and complicated the wedding-planning process can be, we figured we would make this a more intimate affair in Portland with the chance to enjoy time with extended family at another time this coming year. Thank you for helping us keep this event special, intentional, and intimate by not sharing our wedding RSVP details with anyone other than those listed on the envelope. ♡
🌿 🌿 🌿 LJ and Kim are incredibly lucky to share a truly special meet-cute. In the summer of 2019, they were both given the opportunity to go on tour with the third national tour of the Broadway musical Once. For LJ, the decision was easy. Open to opportunity and new experiences, the timing felt perfect. He accepted immediately, packed his bags, and headed off on what would become the adventure of a lifetime. Soon, he was hearing heartfelt tunes, meeting lifelong friends, and harbouring a new crush. LJ wouldn’t know it at the time, but that tour bus would soon begin the drive to the rest of his life. For Kim, the decision was more complicated, a true battle of head versus heart. She was offered a choice between Once, which she had seen and loved on a trip to London, and Finding Neverland, a musical based on her favorite story of all time. Ultimately, the decision came down to which tour would feel more manageable for her first job as a Production Stage Manager at that level. Choosing Once meant making an uncharacteristically spontaneous choice for this devoted planner (one that few would have predicted) but it became not only the right step for her career, but the best decision she has ever made. As many of you know, the Once tour was something special, to those of us on it, and to everyone who experienced it. The story of Guy and Girl - two strangers who meet, make music together, fall in love, and part ways over the course of a single week - is ultimately a tale about timing. It speaks to how love can find us in the most unexpected moments, helps us grow in ways we didn’t anticipate, and can leave us better prepared for the chapters still ahead. That tour was the right show, with the right group of people, at exactly the right moment - a rare and magical combination that’s unlikely to happen again (and certainly a high bar to set at the very start of your career). Though it was cut short in December of 2019, many of the crew reunited almost immediately when they were brought on for the Broadway tour of Chicago in January of 2020. With uncertainty ahead, LJ and Kim had a choice: to let their connection remain a fleeting moment, a “once”, or to move toward something more. While Guy and Girl choose to let each other go, LJ and Kim chose a different ending. They continued touring together on Chicago, and again from 2021-2022 on Summer. Along the way, they crisscrossed the country on tour buses, tracked their favorite coffee and food spots in each city, and navigated long-distance chapters when LJ moved home to Long Island and Kim worked and lived in New York City, Memphis, Portland (Maine), and throughout New Hampshire. Eventually, it became clear it was time to take the next step. LJ’s love for Portland OR, sparked during a college visit, made it an obvious contender. In July of 2022, they booked a 10-day trip to explore the city. On a whim, they toured an apartment, were approved a week after returning home, and five weeks later they had packed up a car, an expertly loaded U-Haul, and their cats, Marshall and Lily, and drove cross-country to their new home. It didn’t take long to know they wanted to put down roots in Portland. They designed Kim’s engagement ring together with Betsy & Iya, the jewelers they had first discovered while visiting as tourists, at their fine jewelry shop, Fiina. Betsy and her team brought their vision to life perfectly. On February 15, 2025, LJ took Kim out for a post-Valentine’s Day brunch, then led her up the many (many!) steps to the top of Mount Tabor - a dormant volcano in the heart of East Portland - where he proposed beneath towering Douglas firs, overlooking the city they have grown to love so deeply. 🌿 🌿 🌿 We are endlessly grateful to our families and friends for their love and support, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you in September of 2026.
