First date was set at an indie bar called Galaxy Hut filled with hipsters and 80's style arcade games...sadly, BJ shaved his beard in anticipation of the date, because Laura didn't like them. He took one look at her face in the bar and said, let's get out of here. He tucked her arm under his and she was instantly charmed. They strolled up and down the streets of Clarendon closing out one place after another before he walked her home. First kiss was on a park bench outside her apartment building under the December moon. She spent the December holidays with her family with BJ calling her everyday wooing her with his vast knowledge of Star Wars and other fine trivia. When she came back, he had regrown his beard and planned about 3 months of dates...you see, he planned on keeping her. BJ and Laura were snowed into her apartment during a March snowstorm. They didn't have the kids and decided to just make a ton of great food. He fell in love with her meatballs. Inspired by the snow, they planned a trip to Turks and Caicos. A week before they left, her friend (and realtor) Karen met BJ for the first time. She said to Laura as soon as BJ left, "He's the one. I'm going to find you a house". A day later, she found them a great place in Del Ray. A day before they left for vacation, they signed a lease. A year later, Karen helped them find their new home on Bryan Street. BJ and Laura slowly introduced the kids to each other. Claudia and David instantly warmed up to each other as he had always wanted an older sibling, not a younger one. She understood his quietness and he understood her food preferences as they were identical to his own. Claudia found joy in a little brother that she didn't have to see constantly. Louis and David warmed up slowly but once the toys were consolidated in Del Ray, the frostiness subsided. Now they are inseparable....unless one of them is hungry or tired. But isn't that true for everyone? We love our family.
