The museum is near Washington Dulles Airport. It has the Space Shuttle Discovery, the B-29 Enola Gay, and other significant aircraft, along with an IMAX Theater.
The museum is world-class and very popular with exhibits on Earth’s beginnings, the National Fossil Hall, Egyptian mummies, daily tarantula feedings in the Insect Zoo, a Butterfly Pavilion, and an incredible section on rocks, minerals, and gems, including the Hope Diamond.
A performing arts center of stunning beauty, located on the Potomac River, and next door to The Watergate, a visit to the Center offers inspirational views and opportunity to see virtuoso performances. In mid-June, performances include the musical “Jersey Boys”, the National Symphony Orchestra, and a dramatic play, “A Monster Calls”. Tours of the Kennedy Center are provided by volunteers: Tour information is at https://www.kennedy-center.org/visit/faq/
Old Town Alexandria is a nationally designated historic district founded in 1749. There are still cobblestone streets and many historic houses. It is a lively place, with more than 200 restaurants and boutiques. There is a beautiful waterfront area to walk around at the Potomac River. The Torpedo Factory is an art center with over 80 artist’s studios, and that is located next to the waterfront, as well.
A modern, small-scale urban area in northern Virginia. There are many small eateries, restaurants, boutiques, a Barnes & Noble bookstore, Angelika theater, bakeries, and a weekend farmer’s market. A fun place to walk around!
Paved trail for biking, walking, and running. The trail has multiple entry points in Vienna with restaurants, shops, and breweries nearby. In total, it runs for 45 miles from Shirlington to Purcellville, VA.
Great local coffee shop in the heart of Vienna. It's fairly close to the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner hotel and Meadowlark Botanical Garden. It's also close to the W&OD trail if you want to go for a walk, run, or bike ride. Stephen and Lizzie love this place!
Small brewery with great beer and food in downtown Vienna. It's just off the W&OD trail!
Although it has the look of a diner from the 1950s, the food is fresh, varied, and chef-driven, with seasonal specials, flexitarian options, and a large menu.
This includes several excellent and fun restaurants: Artie’s (in Fairfax), Coastal Flats (in Tysons Corner Center), Sweetwater Tavern (in Merrifield), Patsy’s American (in Vienna/Tysons), and Randy’s Prime (in Vienna). The chain also has their own bakery “Best Buns” in the Tysons area, and it is exceptionally good.
Large mall with many shops and restaurants and close to the hotel. Check out restaurant options at https://www.tysonscornercenter.com/Directory?filter=food-drink
