Lizzie and Silas's first date was in Concord, NC. Lizzie was flying back from visiting her best friend Mackenzie in New Orleans and decided to give Silas a chance before heading home to Winston Salem (unknown to Silas) where she was finishing up a fellowship. Despite Lizzie growing up in Concord, Silas picked an Italian spot for dinner. Silas was waiting out front when Lizzie pulled up in the same exact car he'd just purchased a few months ago. Needing an icebreaker, Silas remarked he had the same exact car but the plug-in version. Lizzie revealed she'd also just purchased the car and was salty Silas had gotten the version of the car she had wanted (the "PRIME", more later). Despite Lizzie admitting she still lived in Winston Salem (moving to CLT that summer) and Silas revealing he was soon to be unemployed (classically without a plan), they hit it off immediately. At the end of the date, Lizzie decided the best way to guarantee a next date would be to make a pun: "Have a PRIME ride home!" she said while shooting Silas with double finger guns. It worked. They kept up over the next two months while Lizzie was moving, and Silas was wandering around the Balkans with friends. Silas and Lizzie grew closer over the following months as they both began new chapters of life, new jobs, and new adventures in Charlotte.

After some subtle and not so subtle hints, Silas designed a ring with a jeweler in Concord who had made some pieces for Lizzie and her family before. Determined to surprise Lizzie, who was determined not to be surprised, Silas began hinting to Lizzie that should get her nails done before a trip to Asheville at the end of June. In sneaky text messages, Silas asked Lizzie's good friend Noella to lure Lizzie to Rosie's Wine Garden for a girls date a week and a half before the trip to Asheville. Covering all the bases, Paige convinced Lizzie to join her for a nail appointment the weekend before and Silas tasked their friend Garrett with waiting nearby with Lizzie's dog Franklin. Last minute flowers, photographer, and Franklin in place, Silas waited patiently to surprise Lizzie. Spotting Silas’s car in the back parking lot and doing some last min prep, in the end it was Lizzie who surprised Silas by arriving a bit later than expected. On June 13th, Lizzie said "Yes". Moments later, Franklin came bounding out of the bushes to complete the moment.
