Lizelle and Matthew met back in elementary school in their split 5th/6th grade class. They knew of each other, but didn't really talk to each other until the Summer of 2008 after Matt finished the 8th grade.

Due to the pandemic, Matt and his brother, Chris postponed their trip to Seattle for a few weeks. The same day they came, they went sightseeing and ended their day at Gasworks Park. After walking around for a while, Matt and Chris found a place to take pictures with the sun setting at almost 9:00pm. Lizelle happened to be on the phone with her brother, Alex. As soon as Lizelle was off the phone, Chris had the two of them posing for a photo when he signaled Matt to do it. Matt went to his bag and came back with a ring to propose and Lizelle said yes.
