Walking the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the BEST ways to experience New York, its skyline, its scope, and the cultural variety and differences between Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Once you get off the bridge, see the views!
Take a spin on Jane's restored antique carousel right under the Brooklyn Bridge. It survived a hurricane!
Enjoy one of the best things about Brooklyn--pizza!!! If the line at Grimaldi's is too long, Juliana's Pizza next door was founded by the same folks as Grimaldi's.
The cheap way to see the Statue of Liberty! If you don't want to go to the statue and the museum, take the Staten Island Ferry, which goes right past the statue for free! Remember, it's free to go to Staten Island, but they make you pay to leave. ;)
Another great, cheap way to see the city from the water. The East River Ferry departs from a dock a short walk from The Beekman and The Millennium Hilton, and goes to Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Red Hook, all of which are great Brooklyn neighborhoods for meandering walks, shopping, eating and drinking. You could even take the ferry to the wedding in Greenpoint on Saturday! The venue is a 10-15 minute walk from the dock.
Remember going to really big, fun record stores?! Williamsburg has one! Rough Trade NYC is an offshoot of the legendary London record store. Take the ferry from Wall Street to Williamsburg and check it out.
In a place that seems untouched by time since opening more than 60 years ago, Peter Pan makes the all-time best donuts, cake donuts, jelly-filled donuts, crullers, bowties and Boston creams on the eastern seaboard. Seriously! Their motto is, "If you try once you'll be a happy customer forever."
Real deal heavy metal bar right around the corner from the wedding venue with nightly shows offering libations of the canned variety. Enthusiastically recommended by Wyatt! 10/10!!
Great for kids and families. Check out Schermerhorn Row, one of several cute stretches of red-brick warehouses on Front, Fulton, John and South Streets that still have the Georgian-Federal architectural details popular in when Hamilton was strutting around Lower Manhattan.
Take a walk, a bike ride or a drink on the roof of The Met--August is one of the best times to enjoy Central Park.
Immortalized in movies like "Ghostbusters" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's," The Schwarzman Library's main Rose Reading Room just underwent a breath-taking restoration. Enjoy free tours of the beautiful beaux arts building, and swing by Times Square or shop on 5th Avenue after!
