Wyatt and Liz met at a concert by the surf-punk band Surfer Blood at The Mercury Lounge in August 2011, the day before they started graduate school together at Columbia Journalism School. At school, they were in the same core reporting class--RW 1--and along with their close-knit group of classmates, Wyatt and Liz grew closer over many more nights of dancing and drinks on the Lower East Side. A little over one year after the first night they met, Wyatt asked Liz out for drinks (solo!) at Little Branch. They've been together ever since.
On nearly the last night of a three-week journey in Italy, during which they experienced the Renaissance treasures of Florence, the fisherman's catch in Monopoli, the kindness of a Carabinieri in Calabria (Ciro, we owe you), and the travails of driving in Rome, Wyatt got down on one knee in the middle of a street in Monti. Liz enthusiastically said, "yes!" A driver waiting for them to get out of the street told them congratulations, and with a cheap bottle of Spumanti, they walked down the street to the Colosseum to celebrate.
We invite you to join in Wyatt and Liz's joy at a wedding ceremony in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the neighborhood they called home for many years. The ceremony will take place at The Glasserie on the rooftop of The Box House Hotel. Amid your love and friendship, they will join their lives as the sun sets over the Manhattan skyline.
