How It All Began We both grew up in Cheshire, Connecticut—on the opposite side of town, in different schools and different friend circles. Our paths finally crossed on the slopes as members of the Mount Southington Ski Team, coached by Liz’s parents, Scott and Victoria. Although our runs never quite intertwined back then, Ryan admits he had a crush on Liz from the age of 13. High School Sparks In high school, our worlds collided more as teammates—Ryan was the senior captain of the Cheshire ski team, and Liz led as junior captain. That's when we started to get to know each other. Ryan asked Liz to prom during his senior year... and the rest, as they say, is history. College Reunion & Long-Distance Love After prom, our paths diverged—Ryan headed off to UConn to pursue his doctorate in physical therapy, and Liz stayed in Cheshire for her senior year of high school. But we never let distance dim our connection; we stayed in touch through calls, texts, letters, and visits. A few years later—in 2017—when Ryan was well into his studies at UConn and Liz was thriving in her junior year at the University of New Hampshire, sparks flew again. That reconnection turned into something much more meaningful, and we picked up right where our hearts had left off. Growing Together In 2022, after what felt like forever of long-distance, we finally moved in together in South Boston—along with our cat Leo. Then, on February 8, 2025, with the snow-capped summit of Burke Mountain as our backdrop, Ryan proposed—using his grandmother Maria Bogrette’s ring (though he cheekily used a $10 placeholder from Walgreens so the real heirloom didn’t disappear into the snow). Of course, Liz said "yes." Meet the Family Our family now includes Leo—and May 2025 brought us our new puppy, Fred. What began over a decade ago with shy glances on the ski slopes has grown into a life full of love, laughter, and furry companionship. And Now... Twelve(ish) years into our journey, we’re so grateful for every twist and turn that led us here.
