Daron proposed while we were on vacation in Key West before Thanksgiving in 2020. It was a complete surprise as we booked the trip last minute because Hurricane Eta hit the Keys earlier in the month. We had waited to book the trip until we knew the Keys were not severely damaged and that Florida was still open for business during the pandemic. We had a fantastic morning and afternoon in the sun the first day before venturing out as the sun started to get low. Daron escorted me to a small building which turned out to be a museum shop for the old lighthouse of Key West. After walking around the grounds, we ventured to the top of the lighthouse, climbing 88 steps to the top. At the top was a beautiful platter of assorted hors d’oeuvres and a bottle of delicious red wine. Daron then walked out on the platform around the top with the sun going down and proposed with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. Although we like to play about the fact I asked him if he was sure (as we have been together awhile) I of course said yes! It was a beautiful sunset at the southernmost part of the continental US and such a fun few days with my best friend!
