✈️ Flying to Greece

Getting to Santorini can be a bit tricky — we’ve done it from both the East and West Coasts and can confirm it comes with a few challenges. Your best friends are Google or ChatGPT 😄, but here are some tips from us to help make your journey smoother! Options to Get to Santorini You can either fly all the way to Santorini (with at least one stop) or fly into Athens and take a ferry to the island. Flying from New York Direct flights to Athens are available. From Athens, you can either: Take a short domestic flight to Santorini, or Take a ferry for a more scenic and often cheaper option. Flying from the West Coast (Seattle, LA, etc.) One common route is Seattle → Frankfurt → Athens → Santorini (flight). From Athens, you can also choose to take a ferry to Santorini. Flying via Europe You can also fly through major hubs such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, or Frankfurt and then continue to Santorini. Keep in mind: You’ll need extra time at European airports for security and customs. European carry-on allowances are smaller than in the U.S., so check your bag sizes — you may need to check in standard U.S. carry-ons. Ferry Information Ferries depart from Piraeus port in Athens. Check schedules at Ferryhopper or book directly with companies like SeaJets or Blue Star Ferries. The ferry ride can be a beautiful way to see the Aegean Sea if you have extra time. Transportation on the Ground Athens: Uber is available and reliable. Santorini: Uber is limited. Options include: Taxis run by local companies Rental cars or quads for exploring Local buses, which are inexpensive but may have limited schedules

🏡Where to Stay

Please stay wherever is most convenient for you. It depends on your budget and how many days you plan to spend on the island. We recommend the city of Fira, which offers a good mix of hotels and villas at different price points. Fira is also closer to the wedding venue, El Viento Venue, making travel on the wedding day easier. Santorini accommodations can be very different from what you may be used to in the U.S. Many villas look like charming little caves, which adds to the island’s unique character. We will be staying at El Greco Hotel and are working on arranging transportation to and from the venue on the wedding day if possible. More details will be shared soon. Tips for Booking Book early: June is a popular month, so availability can be limited. Consider your stay length: If you want to explore the island, staying a few extra days in Fira or nearby towns is convenient. Villa vs. hotel: Villas often include kitchens and private terraces, while hotels may offer breakfast and concierge services. Budget: Fira has options for most budgets; Oia is more scenic but generally pricier.
