Our Story

In the summer of 2014, two random souls found each other by what some could only describe as fate... or just the luck of the internet. We were miles apart and at very different points in our lives, but universes closer in spirit. As time went on, our long-distance connection deepened, finding solace in one another - in talking about our dreams, sharing our deepest thoughts, and especially laughing together despite the physical distance between us. And then one day, we finally met in person, and we both knew that it was where we belonged - together. Nothing could ever come close to the joy of being around each other, the love that filled our hearts and expressed with every caring gesture, every moment spent together, and every little thing that connected us further. But each time spent together was fleeting- severed by the demands of our separate lives, with each long goodbye feeling as if it were to be our last. We both knew that in order for our adventure to continue, a leap of faith was required - one that both of us needed to make. And so, in the fall of 2016, we were reunited for good in, of all places, Iowa. Since then, we have built a life together - not perfect or easy by any means, but one that is filled with love, laughter, and, most importantly, each other. And after more years than we'd care to count, we are finally able to meet each other at the altar, to say our vows, and to reinforce our love and commitment to each other, 'til death do us part.

Who made the first move?

She made the first move, He was terrified.

What was your most memorable date?

Camping off the coast of Lake Michigan, it was pouring like crazy and our tent almost washed away. Pretty much everything got soaked, including us, but we couldn't stop laughing because it was enough just being together.

What's your favorite activity together?

Lazy mornings in bed are pretty great.

We're on the same page about

Almost nothing.... He is a meticulous planner and She is a spontaneous dreamer. We always have to meet somewhere in the middle - which isn't always easy but it's also the reason why we don't have 15 pets and we're eloping in Greece. It's a nice balance

The dorkiest thing about us is

We play Dungeons and Dragons with the kids. It was totally Ryan's idea and it took weeks of convincing, but it has been a surprising favorite with the kids. We have killed so many goblins in our spare time.

What is something most people don't know about us?

She has a habit of leaving clean laundry piled up all over our room, her dresser drawers in a constant state of spewed-out clothes -- but they somehow manage to never get wrinkly. He has been delicately hanging all of his shirts (including his nice t-shirts) since middle school and they still get wrinkled. Make it make sense.

We take pride in

Our family, we each bring something different to the table, making us stronger as a whole

Where do we see ourselves in 5 years?

She envisions us on our 5th annual trip to Greece while reading her millionth zombie book. He hopes to finally get those damn birds out of our gutters.
