We *almost* had the wedding here. This museum can be done in a quick visit. Do not miss the Streets of Detroit exhibit on the bottom floor!
Located on Belle Isle ($10 entry fee if you don't have the Michigan Recreation Passport on your vehicle), the Dossin Museum offers fascinating maritime history. Also check out the Belle Isle Aquarium (especially if you're into aquatic creatures and/or Art Deco architecture!), the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, and all the lovely views around the island.
Butterfly gardens, a train, carousel, walking paths, giraffes, penguins...our zoo has it all! You can easily spend a full day here! It's not in the city of Detroit, but it is in the city of Royal Oak, which has a great downtown for restaurants and nightlife!
If you're in town Saturday morning, fresh veggies and fruits, and yummy pastries await at our fun little market! Stroll the streets of downtown Royal Oak after for shopping. Park in the parking garage if you go!
There is so much to do! Rent a bike from one of the MoGo bike stands, pedal or walk the Detroit Riverfront, visit Valade Park, head to the Detroit Institute of Arts...you'll soon be like "wait, wasn't I in town for some kind of event??" We won't be mad if you're late because you fell in love with our city ;)
