Mother of the Bride
Lisa’s cheerleader, day-one supporter, and mama prayer warrior, Gertha is a woman who chooses faith over fear and joy over worry. With a heart of gold and timeless wisdom, she’s the glue that holds it all together. Almost every time she calls Lisa, she sings, “Sugar pie, honey bunch… you know that I love you!”—because that’s just who she is: loving, and full of song. Every time Lisa visits Miami, her mom sends her back to Atlanta with a stash of homemade food—because love tastes better when it’s homemade.
Mother of the Groom
My Mom is the original MVP. Cynthia is the woman who raised me, shaped me, prayed for me, and somehow survived my awkward teenage years. My mom is a fighter from Yawd and her love, wisdom, and grace have been my foundation—and having her by my side on this special day means everything! Love you Mom
Father of the Bride
Always early, forever cool, and aging in reverse, Milius is the definition of timeless swagger. His love for sunglasses is unmatched—he wears them everywhere (Lisa’s just praying he doesn’t wear them down the aisle). With his old-school charm and quiet strength, he’s the kind of dad who makes a lasting impression. And yes, Lisa is 100% sure she’s his favorite child. Sorry, not sorry.
Aunt of the Bride
Juny isn’t just Lisa’s aunt—she’s like a second mom with a bold spirit and a heart of gold. A true fashionista and natural comedian, she’s the kind of woman who lights up a room without even trying. What scares most people doesn’t faze Juny one bit—thanks to her years in the health field, she’s got a stomach of steel and nerves to match. She’s a bossy babe (in the best way), fiercely loving, and one of the bravest people Lisa knows.
Matron of Honor
Natasha is Lisa’s big sister, bestie, and built-in life coach. A powerhouse speaker, minister, educator, and author, she somehow balances her incredible career and family life with ease and grace. She’s also the proud mom of Lisa’s first babies—her beloved nephews: Oliver (a.k.a. My Oli Bolly) and Bryce (a.k.a. My Sweet Potato). Natasha is loyal to the core, always ready with a word of wisdom, or (if necessary) brass knuckles.
Man of Honor
Melvin is Lisa’s little brother and her go-to guru for all things Apple, AI, and tech. If it plugs in or syncs, Melvin’s your guy. He’s dependable, responsible, and incredibly kind, with a calm demeanor that never wavers (even when everyone else is freaking out). He’s got a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a deep love for his family. Melvin is always ready to help, always knows how to make you laugh, and always shows up when it matters.
Matron of Honor
Lisa’s first cousin! Schqueena is resourceful, resilient, and always ready to step up. Now one of Georgia’s top educators, she continues to excel in her field with grace and grit. A recovering extreme couponer, she still knows exactly where—and when—to find the best deals. Sassy with a heart of gold, Schqueena brings wisdom, strength, and unwavering love to every season of life. Lisa is beyond grateful to have her by her side.
Best Man
My free-spirited and adventurous best friend, is absolutely CRAZY! This guy is most likely to deliver a roast disguised as a toast during the reception. Boz has been my right-hand man for decades—loyal, sharp-witted, and always a step ahead. He brings the jokes and plenty of laughs and probably some stories I hope stay buried. Did I mention he was crazy? Love you Boz!
Groomsman
My college bredren turned brother for life! Marlon’s been there since the days of way-too-early classes and little funds to spare and somehow we made it through with a lasting friendship intact. I can count on his sage advice, analytical skills and most of all, prayers. If anything runs smoothly on the wedding day, chances are he had something to do with it. Love you Marlon.
