Dallas Museum of Art
The Dallas Museum of Art is free for everyone (not including special exhibitions) and not far from the Stoneleigh.
Reverchon Park
This is Lisa's favorite Dallas park, it's more of a "nature lovers" park, and it's less than 10 minute walk from the Stoneleigh. Bring a blanket and chill out on one of the sloping hills. If you're feeling more active, you can take a walk/jog along the Katy Trail (accessible via Reverchon) all the way down to American Airlines Center, or go North towards Turtle Creek/Knox Henderson. There are tennis courts nearby, along with a sand volleyball court behind Reverchon Recreation center.
Round-Up Saloon
The Round-Up Saloon is considered as the “Best Galdanged Gay Bar in the U.S. of A.” and has dance lessons every week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. The instructors teach couples dance as well as line dances. And they’re free! Located in the extremely walkable gayborhood on "the strip" (aka Cedar Springs), this sprawling western dance hall has karaoke, an upstairs patio, and so much more.
Parigi Restaurant
Rotating menu. Reservation highly recommended. Sit outside when the weather is nice.
Klyde Warren Park
Klyde Warren Park - located right across the street from the Dallas Museum of Art (and other cultural spots), stop by Klyde Warren and hang out. Lots of food trucks are available and the park is very walkable.
Highland Park Village
Great spot for outdoor shopping and dining. Very ritzy and beautifully maintained grounds. Some suggested restaurants are Lounge 31, Honor Bar, and Monkey Bar for their Mambo Taxi's.
Katy Trail Ice House
Grab your biggest Greek Life shirt, some chubbies, and head on down to Katy Trail Ice House for one of *the* ultimate Dallas experiences. Located conveniently off the Katy Trail - and, just an 8 minute walk from The Stoneleigh - this Dallas staple offers to-die-for frozen margs, nachos, beer, a whole lot of people watching and loud talking.
UTSWMC Rookery
The Rookery is one of those true "Dallas Insider" places. If you're into birds, go here. You'll feel like you're in Jurassic park. P.S., the view from the top of the parking garage is pretty cool.
Meadows Museum
The Meadows Museum, nicknamed "Prado on the Prairie" is on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU). The museum houses one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside of Spain, with works dating from the 10th to the 21st centuries.
