Walk through the gardens and around the ponds. The greenhouse conservatories are especially interesting. Can't recommend this enough on a beautiful day.
Check out DUMBO, right on the water with amazing views of downtown Manhattan. There are tons or restaurants, shops, a carousel, and green space to hang out at.
