You must fill out a declaration form for customs and pay any duties on any items that are not Duty Free. Then you will be asked to push a button on a traffic signal. Green light means you go on, red means your belongings will be checked. If you are caught with items not declared or exceeding their reported value without paying duties you are liable for fines of 1 to 3 times the value of those items and they can be confiscated by the authorities. Money Bringing money in any quantity is not a crime but not declaring it can be. You may bring $10.000 U.S. in cash or checks legally but you must declare any funds over that amount. Once you pick up your luggage proceed to Customs. Declaration must be signed and filled out, introduce it facing up into the laser reader (if returned hand it over to the Customs Officer).

Travel Note
Using dollars is not a problem when traveling to Cabo. Most places accept both dollars and pesos. However, if you do use dollars you will most likely get pesos as change. Also most vendors use a 10 peso to 1 dollar exchange rate which is higher than the actual exchange rate – around 17 pesos to 1 dollar. You can do this at your local bank, or going to an ATM at "La Comer" (grocery store), but don't forget there are foreign transaction fees. I personally would suggest bringing pesos with you. Most restaurants and hotels take all major credit cards (except Discover). If you need cash, there are many ATMS in Cabo. Beware that most only dispense in Pesos. So you are not withdrawing 2,000 dollars from your account, you are withdrawing 2,000 pesos!
