The Wedding Website of Lindsey Hogan and Stefan Stüber
Aggstein Castle, likely built by Manegold III in the early 12th century, was seized by the Kuenringers in 1181. It was besieged in 1230/31 during the Kuenringer uprising and again in 1295-96. Falling into disrepair, it was rebuilt in 1429 by Jörg Scheck von Wald, who turned robber baron. The castle changed hands frequently, notably burned by Ottomans in 1529 and rebuilt for artillery defense. In 1606, Anna Freiin von Polheim und Parz acquired it, but it declined after her death. Major renovations from 2003 to 2004 restored the castle, now a popular Lower Austria attraction with 55,000 annual visitors. On May 10, 2025, Stefan and I will be getting married here! Prior to the late afternoon/evening festivities, visiting the castle and audio tours will be available.

Public transportation outside of Vienna (REX, R, CJX, S-Bahn) (relevant if you are taking public transportation to the hotel / Krems) can be found at oebb.at or in the oebb app. The tickets can also be purchased from a conductor on board for a 3 euro 'on-board' fee.
