In 2016 we both managed to convince our parents to send us to scuba & sailing camp in the BVI's. Having both chosen diving heavy programs, we both were required to attend an introductory meeting with 40 or so other campers and all the counselors. Packed like sardines into the cockpit of a single catamaran, we each sat on opposite sides among our friends. We of course were chatting with our friends on and off during the (boring) presentation, and I laughed, capturing the attention of the majority of the campers. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it had been a fairly quiet moment in the discussion. Upon somewhat sheepishly realizing my error and then looking up, the only person I saw was Stefan (the only person of the 50 or so amused by my outburst). Luckily, he was sitting next to one of my shipmates, and as if in a movie, asked him who I was. Mitch, the phenomenal wingman he was (kidding), replied "oh that's Lindsey" before moving on. (No other information?? Really?). Fortunately, Stefan isn't one to be shy and introduced himself after the meetings concluded. What followed was three weeks of hanging out on shore when our boats docked at the same time, and the beginning of a great friendship. After camp ended, we stayed in touch periodically. Video chatting every now and then but not getting to see each other from the end of 2016 until November of 2018. Due to Graham (Lindsey's brother) attending boarding school in Switzerland, the Hogan family decided Thanksgiving 2018 would come to him. I invited Stefan to attend, and as they say "the rest is history"! What followed was a renewed consistency in our texting and video chatting, and after I visited Stefan in May of 2019, we officially started dating. Over the next few years, we did our best to visit each other as much as possible. We have been able to build wonderful relationships with each other's families, and put down roots in each other's home towns (or cities!). After three and a half years of long distance and graduating from college only two weeks prior, I moved to Vienna. It has been amazing, and on December 10, 2023, Stefan proposed! We are thrilled to be getting married, and we are so excited to see you all! Love, Lindsey and Stefan
