Like any good love story these days, ours began on a dating app. While entertaining herself on a train ride home from work, Lindsey opened Hinge and began swiping. She came across Cary's profile, intrigued by seeing a fellow Jew and dog enthusiast, and sent him a message based on his prompt "I talk to my dog like he's a human". Cary quickly responded and they spent the rest of the evening chatting back and forth about their dogs and sports, ultimately discovering that they were rivals when it came to baseball teams. Feeling that the conversation was flowing, Lindsey asked Cary if he wanted to meet in person for drink and to keep the conversation going to which Cary never responded. After a weekend of silence, Cary finally reappeared, swearing up and down that his phone had broke and that was why he couldn't respond and asked for a chance to make it up to her. Lindsey decided to give him another shot but only after she went on a ski trip with friends. As luck would have it, that ski trip would be her last, as a little thing called Corona Virus was starting to sweep across the country and we were headed into lock down. Following the guidelines, they continued to talk every day for four months while never actually meeting in person. Finally, in the summer of 2020, as outdoor dining became a thing, they had their first socially distanced date. It was there that they discovered so many similarities and six degrees of separation that their meeting seemed like fate and the rest is history!
After a fun week of spending quality time with Lindsey's family while traveling for her sister's wedding in Feb of 2022, Cary knew that this was a feeling he wanted to hold on to forever and so he began his master plan. He first started by asking for her parents blessing, knowing the best way to win over her father was by bringing SuperDawg to sweeten the deal. Once that was confirmed, he began working with the moms, best friends, and sisters to plan the ultimate surprise. Remembering a conversation they had early on in dating, Cary set out to recreate what Lindsey described as her ideal day in the city. With the help of his friends, he used a group date night as the perfect disguise. It started off with dinner at Pizzeria Portofino along the river which was the perfect backdrop to the start of the evening. After dinner, the group took a casual stroll along the river walk to grab dessert. After dessert, it was time to take group pictures atop Wells Street bridge. Before the group photo Cary asked to do a couple photo and as Lindsey turned around to fix her hair, Cary got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, to which Lindsey replied, "I F**K**G KNEW IT!" After saying yes, the group headed to have celebratory drinks at The Royal Grocer where the second part of Cary's plan was waiting. There, in the back room of the restaurant, were all of their friends and family waiting to celebrate. Cary even went as far as to ensure that Lindsey’s sister and brother-in-law were able to be there from San Diego as he knew how important that would be to her. It was an amazing day filled with amazing memories and they can’t wait to celebrate with you all again in July!
