Lindsay and Caleb met in 2017 at the Southern Oregon University Outdoor Program. They started spending a lot of time together tracking down stolen and misplaced commuter bikes, and became friends while discussing strategy for apocalypse survival (you're going to want to be on their team folks, trust me). After a year of will they, won't they (and one particularly embarrassing incident that you either already know about or can get the details of from any member of the wedding party), Caleb and Lindsay decided to make it official in December of 2018....about two weeks before Caleb left for a 6-month trip to Bali, Indonesia. So after two glorious weeks, whose highlights included Lindsay getting her wisdom teeth removed, meeting the Swanson family in Portland, and a healthy amount of Caleb's garlic mashed potatoes (integral to the wisdom teeth recovery process!), the couple embarked on a long-distance courtship. Luckily, Lindsay had enough airline miles to make a trip for spring break, where the two circumnavigated Bali visiting monkey sanctuaries, scuba diving, and making questionable decisions on a moped. Caleb returned in June of 2019 just in time for both of their graduation ceremonies, and agreed to move to Seattle, Washington with her so she could attend grad school at the University of Washington. There the couple enjoyed lots of rafting trips on the Sauk, hiking in the Cascades, and taking ferry trips to the San Juan islands. At least until COVID happened, at which point they learned just how small their apartment was when you're not allowed to leave. By this point the allure of living in such a big city had pretty much faded, so they decided to move to Moses Lake, Washington to work for the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project; Lindsay as a hydrologic technician for the Bureau of Reclamation, and Caleb as a ditch rider for the East Columbia Irrigation District. Moving out of the city also meant they could adopt Delly, currently considered the most loved dog in the history of the world. They spent a lot of time stand up paddleboarding, rafting the Wenatchee and the Tieton, and continuing the explore the Cascades! In September of 2022, while on a rafting trip on the Tieton with their friends, Caleb suggested to Lindsay that they take a morning walk before they hit the river. In a little clearing on the side of a hill, surrounded by Douglas firs, Caleb got down on one knee and Lindsay burst into (happy!) tears. They are so excited to spend the rest of their lives together and are so incredibly grateful to all of you who will be there to celebrate with them in September!
