How We Met

A Bumble Success Story

In the midst of the COVID pandemic, we both found ourselves navigating the wonderful world of online dating, specifically on Bumble. After matching and being greeted by Lindsay's captivating opening line, "Hey, how are you?" we hit it off and set up a dinner date. Like most dates, we approached it with high hopes but low expectations, as online dating can be a roller coaster. We did not anticipate things going so well that we ended up closing the place down. After talking for hours, we parted ways with the expectation of seeing each other again very soon. The next day, Lindsay realized she wasn’t feeling well and soon discovered she had COVID. Thus, the nickname "COVID Queen" was born, and it was used among Austin's friends in place of her actual name. After completing the mandatory two-week quarantine and receiving a negative COVID test result, we went on our second date, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

4.20.24

Three months of planning and approximately 300 secrets later, Operation Engagement was a go. The plan? Just a casual "tour" of the new Assembly movie studios near our home in Chamblee. (Shout out to Trey for making that happen!) Afterward, we would head out to a nice dinner with some of our closest friends, which was just a ploy to get Lindsay in a dress. As we explored the property, our friends found a not-so-random spot that seemed particularly Instagrammable and suggested we take a few photos. As we settled into our signature pose, Austin stopped and explained that we were not only there for a tour but for something we both knew had been coming since September 2020. Knees weak, arms heavy, he knelt down and popped the question. After Lindsay said yes ("Yes, please!"), we walked around, relishing in the moment before heading back to our home for some celebratory Champagne. Upon returning home, the surprises continued. Lindsay's best friend had flown in from Boston to take part in the special day, and later that evening, a beautiful party full of our closest friends and family awaited us. This day was one we will remember forever and continue to relive because of how special and loved we felt. Thank you to everyone who played a part in the magic and, most importantly, didn't spill the beans. Lindsay is still patiently waiting for her tour of Assembly Atlanta.
