Linden and Hannah were both on the dating app Plenty of Fish for a while. After each experienced numerous unsuccessful dates on the site, they decided to give it one more shot. One day in May 2018, they stumbled across each other’s profiles and were instantly interested. They sent each other a wink, and after a little bit Linden sent the first message of “I have a cheesy pick-up line, but I do not think it is ghouda-nough”. Hannah loves puns, so she instantly decided to give him a chance. After a few days of talking, they decided to meet. Hannah was working at Marriott that day and was hesitant to go meet him after so many failed dates. However, her coworker told her if she didn’t give it a chance she may never find her soulmate. So she decided to go. They met at Starbucks on Thousand Oaks and 281 in San Antonio after Hannah left work. She walked in and saw only one guy there with a red beard matching the picture. They sat on the tailgate of his truck and talked for hours. Then, they decided to call it a night and went their separate ways. The next day, he asked her out again and she agreed. After a week or two (depends who you ask), they made their relationship official.
Hannah was working a late shift at Marriott that day, and he was going to pick her up after work and take her out to dinner of her choice (she chose a new restaurant at the time, Walk On’s). He arrived with yellow tulips saying, “This was the only good set of flowers the store had." Now yellow tulips are a must for every special occasion! There were homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting on his front seat with the flowers. He was a gentleman the whole time. The restaurant seated them in the section by the kitchen doors. Hannah originally took it as a bad sign, but all he said was “At least we are by the food when it comes out!” She liked his sense of humor and the night went better. They had bread pudding (Hannah’s first time trying it), and when they left, they had no idea where to go or what to do. So Linden drove them back to the business complex where Hannah’s work was at and they sat on the back of his truck and talked. Then nervously he asked her “So, you want to be my girlfriend?” She just said yes. The next morning, Hannah was nervous that he didn’t mean it, until he texted her “Good Morning, my girlfriend.” They have supported each other through life events, encouraged each other through challenges, and been each other's biggest cheerleaders in recognizing successes.
After Linden moved from San Antonio to Kingsville to attend grad school at Texas A&M University, he kept saying how Hannah should check out Sandfest in April. They finally made the trip on their one-year anniversary. At this point, they had been talking about marriage and kids for a little bit. The day they arrived, he brought her yellow tulips. He always gave her yellow tulips for special occasions now since the first date! One night, they enjoyed a memorable dinner of oysters on the beach. After dinner, they took a beautiful evening walk on the beach. Hannah had rarely been to the Texas coast, so she was overjoyed to walk down the surf collecting sand dollars and giving them to Linden to hold. The whole time, Linden was saying how much he loves her and how beautiful he thinks she is. Hannah was listening, but when she went after a sand dollar, you could hear Linden yell, “Hannah stop! Come back! I need to tell you something! I am trying to be romantic!” She finally turned around and saw him on one knee. He asked her, “Will you be my Hannah Marie forever?" She laughed and said "Yes!" The ring was gorgeous, but Hannah didn't want to wear it until they could tell their parents. However, life had a different plan! After the beach, they visited Hannah's cousin living nearby. As soon as Hannah walked in, her eagle-eyed cousin said, "Oh my God, what is this??"With all of the excitement, Hannah forgot to take off the ring! Knowing that they couldn't hide the news for long, they started making calls. Hannah called her mother, who said, “He is a good man and treats you right with a good head on his shoulders. We will start planning when you come home in a few days." After those reassuring words from her mom, Hannah knew she had found her sand dollar (Linden, someone she never thought she would find, but is common for others). Linden tells her today, "I never want to see another sand dollar again!"
