This can either be a day trip or a camping trip! Camping sites are very popular and hard to come by so you must seek out the spots at least 6 months in advance.
Alcatraz Island

If you're going to visit San Francisco, you have to visit Alcatraz Island.
Yosemite National Park
CA
This is farther away from the Bay Area but if you can make it the views will be worth it. Some trails like Half Dome require permits and they are released in a lottery basis.
