Question

How to get to from the airportHow to get to from the airport

Answer

daytrip.com is a good option to book a private shuttle to and from the airport. Tulum's airport is quite new and transportation there is still improving. From personal experience, we would also discourage renting a car from Tulum airport or city center as there is notorious price gouging Cancun airport car rental is much better than Tulum's. While a private shuttle is still recommended, renting a car is an option. However, parking - and driving - in the hotel zone is not very easy and will cost Be sure to book your shuttles in advance!!

Question

How To Get AroundHow To Get Around

Answer

Car rental in the city of Tulum is notorious for price gouging. Cancun the price is very reasonable. Driving a rental within the city center is doable, but if you have never driven in a similar country it may be intimidating. However, within the hotel zone traffic is quite congested with very limited parking. There everything is also within walking distance so a car may be more of a hassle. Uber / Lyft are not available in Tulum, but taxis are abundant.

Question

How to pay for thingsHow to pay for things

Answer

Hotel zone is credit card friendly. Some street cart food may require pesos, but that is the minority. The city center is also pretty accepting of credit cards, but some places may prefer pesos to avoid fees. Services, such as taxis and fees for cenotes, will almost always be in CASH. We recommend carrying ~2,000 pesos (~100USD) . ATMS are available in a pinch, but be sure they are affiliated with a bank such as HSBC, Scotiabank or Santander.
