Flight
Milan
There are two main airports in Milan: Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN). There are no direct flights from Washington D.C to Milan, you will either have a stop in New York or Europe. Malpensa is the larger international airport that most guests will fly into. Linate is a smaller domestic airport. Both will work perfectly fine for getting to Lake Como.
Travel Note
Cab information
Private transfer is by far the easiest way to get to Cernobbio/Como and we highly recommend booking this far in advance. Once you arrive at the airport, the private transfer will be there to take you directly to your hotel in Cernobbio/Como. It will cost around $100 but it's the fastest and most convenient way to get there directly in about 1 hour. You will have space for your luggage and don't have to worry about navigating through the train stations.
Train
TRAINS FROM AIRPORTS
The train is a more cost-friendly option, but not the most convenient if you have lots of luggage. Malpensa has direct train from the airport to the Milano Centrale train station (~45 minutes). Linate is closer to the Milano centrale Train station by metro or taxi ~12 minutes. From Milano Centrale you can take a train to Como S. Giovanni (~5 Euros). If you are staying at Como your hotel/stay should be within walking distance or can take 5 min taxi ride. If you are staying in Cernobbio you can either board the ASF 6 bus (blue) ~15 minutes or taxi ~8 min ride. There are no direct train lines into Cernobbio.

Rental Car RENTAL CARS The drive up to lake Como is beautiful and takes ~1:15 hours. Most hotels have parking, but there is an added nightly rate. There are a number of rental car agencies you can book from both airports (Malpensa and Linate) as well as from downtown Milan (near the Milan Centrale Station is best). You can rent from both international car rental agencies or local Italian ones. FYI - Many cars on offer will be manual, make sure to check if you want an automatic.

Shuttle for only Como guests as the dock for the boat will already be in Cernobbio (next to the pick up location Harry's bar in Cernobbio)

Unfortunately, due to high season and the Grand Prix taking place that same weekend, we weren't able to reserve a hotel block for our guests. You're more than welcome to book a stay at a hotel nearby or find a place to stay through Airbnb or Booking.com may be more cost-effective during this busy time. Important: Please make sure to book your accommodation as early as possible—places will fill up quickly and may become unavailable closer to the date!
