Milan
Milan is most likely where you’ll fly into to start your Italian adventure. While you're here for the wedding, explore iconic landmarks like the stunning Duomo di Milano, shop the world’s top designers at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, or admire Da Vinci’s Last Supper. Milan is full of culture, history, style, and unforgettable experiences! Things to Do: - Visit the Duomo di Milano Cathedral: Climb to the rooftop for breathtaking city views. - See The Last Supper Mural: Book tickets in advance for da Vinci’s famous fresco painting. - Explore Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II: Stroll through this shopping gallery (don't forget to spin on the bull for good luck) -Walk on Navigli District- located around the city’s two canals and lined with a number of cafes, restaurants, shops, galleries, pizzerias, gelaterias, book stores and music shops. -Pizza- Don't forget to grab a slice of pizza while in Milan. Varenna
Quieter than Bellagio, Varenna is a picturesque lakeside village known for its colorful buildings, narrow streets, historic villas and stunning views of Lake Como. Things to Do: - Stroll the lakeside promenade: Enjoy the scenic Walk of Lovers, a romantic path along the lake with gorgeous views - Visit Villa Monastero: Explore the stunning gardens and historic villa, home to a museum and breathtaking lakeside views -Discover Villa Cipressi: Adjacent to Villa Monastero, these terraced gardens offer a peaceful retreat with exotic plants. You can also enjoy dining with lake views at the villa's restaurant - Gelato at Gelateria Riva: Stop for a refreshing gelato while soaking in the lake views. - Hike to Castello di Vezio: Take a hike up to the ancient castle for panoramic views of Lake Como -Rent a boat: You can also rent a boat to drive around yourself! we used Varenna Rent a Boat company. They show you how to use one and you're off to enjoy the lake on your own.
Bellagio
Known as the “Pearl of Lake Como,” Bellagio is full of timeless beauty and charm. Wander its cobbled streets, explore the stunning Villa Melzi gardens, or relax with a lakeside aperitivo. From boat rides and boutique shopping to breathtaking views and romantic walks along the lake, Bellagio is the perfect place to unwind and soak in la dolce vita. - Stroll the streets and do some shopping: Wander Bellagio’s narrow streets, lined with shops, cafes, and art galleries. So many great shops to get Italian shoes, leather wallets, belts and silk scarves! -Mr Panino- Visit our favorite sandwich shop for quick bite to eat! - Gelato at Gelateria del Borgo: A must-try for delicious gelato, from classic pistachio to seasonal flavors. -Dai Viga- Homemade pasta pick your own type of pasta and sauce/toppings! - Villa Melzi Gardens- The place where Sina proposed!! Stroll through the neoclassical gardens of Villa Melzi, featuring sculptures, a Japanese pond, and panoramic lake views.
Como
Como is the main town you’ll arrive at by train, offering a blend of history, stunning architecture, and lakeside charm. The town center is full of narrow streets, beautiful squares, and the iconic Como Cathedral (Duomo di Como), a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance design. With its picturesque promenade, Como is the perfect spot to enjoy lakeside views and a relaxing atmosphere. Things to Do: - Visit Como Cathedral: Admire the stunning architecture of this historic cathedral in the heart of the town. - Stroll the Lakeside Promenade: Take a peaceful walk along the lake with stunning views of the mountains and surrounding villages. - Ride the Funicular to Brunate: Get panoramic views of Lake Como from the top of the hill. - Explore Tempio Voltiano: Discover the museum dedicated to inventor Alessandro Volta, with exhibits on his life and work. - Coffee at Piazza Cavour: Relax in the lively lakeside square and enjoy a drink with a view.
Villa del Balbianello
Villa Balbianello is a historic villa open to the public- best known for being a movie set in films franchises like Star Wars and James Bond! To get to the villa, you will either need to take a ferry or book a private boat taxi. I recommend doing the guided tour as the tour of the interior are adorned with artifacts from his global expeditions, including polar equipment, African art, and rare furniture from its last private owner, explorer Guido Monzino. Each space is meticulously curated, reflecting Monzino's passion for adventure and culture. The 45-minute tour provides insights into the villa's history and its transformation into a museum. Please note that interior access is exclusive to guided tours, and advance booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons. You can buy tickets for the villa online!
Tremezzo
Grand Hotel Tremezzo is one of the most iconic hotels in the world, located just across the lake from Varenna. We recommend booking reservations for lunch or dinner at their beautiful lakeside restaurant. Grand Hotel Tremezzo also has a spa that is open to outside guests!
