The weather in Colombia is hot right?

No, no and no! Even though a lot of places in Colombia are warm this is not the case for Bogota. The city is surrounded by hills and it can rain easily. The weather is more on the colder side and it can range for 58 to 78 degrees. Try to not wear shorts, skirts, mini dresses or sandals because you will likely be cold and the only one doing it.

Tons, there's a brewery, museums, the opera, sporting events, gastronomy, drinking, historical districts, hiking (monserrate), national parks (guatavita among others), shopping, festivals, ecotourism, architecture. Travel resources also offer plenty of other ideas.

Is it safe in Bogota, Colombia?

Yes it is, but be sure to use common sense. Bogota has many beautiful things to enjoy and it's important to know that thousands of people from around the globe come to visit just as you. An easy way to remove downside is to book one of the hotels suggested on the travel section of this website. Two other great ideas are to always call your cab through the hotel and of course not dressing like a flashy tourist with a wad of large bills.

Is Bogota expensive?

No fortunately the exchange rate to dollar is great! 1 dollar is about 2,800 pesos depending on its fluctuation. The transportation and food can add up so please be mindful of this. We highly recommend you pay with your credit card since the exchange rate will be the highest, please contact your provider to check if they charge for international use.

What are some other things I should know?

A great way to communicate while in Colombia is to use wifi and communicate via Signal, imessage, whatsapp or another messaging device. Uber is also available just be sure to match the passcode with the driver. You can also book a personal driver for the day but be sure to secure through your hotel.
