Question

Where do we park do take the boat to the island?

Answer

There is a parking lot on Route One to park at for $15 a night. The parking lot is located across the street from 1 Thomas Drive, Cumberland Foreside, ME 04110. From the parking lot, a bus will take you down right to the boat. We suggest arriving ten minutes before the bus is scheduled to depart so there is time to park and get comfortable.

Question

What bus/boat should we take to the island the day of the wedding party?

Answer

We would suggest taking either the 4:30 bus (which brings you down to the 5:00 boat) or the 6:00 bus (which brings you down to the 6:30 boat). You can find the boat/bus schedule at http://www.chebeaguetrans.com/Ferry-Schedule.html

Question

How do we get from the dock on the island to the party venue?

Answer

Someone will be at the dock in a truck labeled "Lily & Vici's Wedding Party". Be prepared, you may be riding in the bed of the truck!

Question

What boat will we take back to the mainland at night?

Answer

The last boat on a Saturday is 10:30 from the island. When you get to the mainland, the bus will bring you up to the parking lot.

Question

Where should we stay overnight?

Answer

There are very few places to stay on the island so we recommend staying at a hotel in either Portland or Freeport. Some reasonably priced hotels in the area include the Best Western Freeport Inn, Holiday Inn in Freeport, and Hampton Inn in Portland. You will not have trouble finding a suitable hotel in the area. Portland is a lovely city with the beautiful Old Port right on the water and a wide variety of highly ranked restaurants. Freeport has a charming shopping center and the famous LL Bean. Both locations have their own lovely qualities!
