We met in a small editing suite in the film department at Cal State Long Beach in 2015. We were the only ones in the suite, working back-to-back at two different computers. Lily was curious about the documentary Tyler was editing, so, hesitating a bit to bother this stranger who was probably cramming to finish this project on time… she asked him about what he was working on. And with a big smile, he told her about it. It wasn’t until over a year later, at a friend’s party that we really got to know each other. And, while Jon Turtletaub’s 1993 film “Cool Runnings” played in the background, we discovered how much we actually like talking to each other (mainly over our critiques of The Hobbit movies, and how we wished Guillermo Del Toro’s vision for those films could have come to fruition instead). Numbers were exchanged, and the rest is history. We shared over 7 years of love, support, adventures, laughing harder than we’ve ever had, and many, many, MANY days and nights of bonding over our favorite shared passion of film — when Tyler decided to propose in May 2023, over his 30th birthday weekend in Palm Springs. The proposal was an extremely successful surprise, and the weekend was spent celebrating both our engagement and Tyler’s birthday with our closest friends. It was the most perfect beginning to this exciting next step in our lives that we could have ever asked for. We can’t wait for you to join us in the heart of Los Angeles on June 15 as we enter this next chapter of our life together as a married couple! See you there :)
