We're Getting Married!

Lily & Raanan matched on Tinder in October 2016. She was serving in the Peace Corps in Swaziland and he was on vacation in Mozambique. For obvious reasons, she didn't invite him to her hut. Instead, they stayed friends for ~3 years. They met in-person on their first date on May 25, 2019. Raanan didn't know it was a date, but he has since figured it out. Lily knew the whole time. Typical.

After a few shorter trips, Raanan spent about a year flying to Chicago to spend a week of every month with Lily. She wanted to make sure he was committed. He was. In March 2020, Raanan thought COVID would last two weeks. But Lily knew better. So, Raanan drove to Chicago. Lily and Raanan lived there for a few months before packing Rose up and giving DC a try. By July 2020, they knew they didn't want to live apart. The three of them officially moved into a new apartment together in September 2020. Lily told her friends that if he didn't propose in a year, she was coming home. She did not tell Raanan.

Lily & Raanan decided to get married at the end of 2020. They became formally engaged on April 25, 2021 at the spot on the National Mall where they rested in shade on their first date. Raanan kept it low key because Lily hates to be perceived.
