Things To Do

Explore Downtown Newport

Explore Downtown Newport

There are endless shops, restaurants and wharfs to explore along America's Cup Ave and Thames Street, located just minutes from the Regatta Place venue!

Newport Folk Festival

Newport Folk Festival

The well-known Newport Folk Festival is happening July 26-28th, and would be a great activity to add to your weekend in Newport. The lineup has not been announced, but previous years have seen artists such as James Taylor, Lana del Rey, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and more.

Historic Mansion Tours

Historic Mansion Tours

Newport is known for its many historic mansions, most of which you can tour and walk the grounds. These properties are incredible with long histories, a great activity for those who love architecture, history, gardens and more! We recommend The Breakers, Rosecliff, The Elms, Marble House or any of the Preservation Society properties.

Newport Vineyards

Newport Vineyards

Located about 15 minutes from downtown you'll find Newport Vineyards, a beautiful vineyard that has a Taproot Brewing Company on site as well. On the weekends, if you get there early you can snag some of their homemade breads and desserts from the Marketplace.

The Cliff Walk

The Cliff Walk

For the view lovers, we recommend checking out the Cliff Walk, a 3.5 mile scenic route with panoramic ocean views. It is free and a great way to spend a nice weather day, and you can hop in to tour some of the mansions along the route. Follow the link for the route and parking information.

Ocean Drive

Ocean Drive

For those who prefer their views to be from the comfort of their car, Ocean Drive offers beautiful ocean views, and can be linked to the Cliff Walk for those who want the full experience. There are many stops along the way, but keep in mind that the Newport Folk Festival may make Fort Adams a busier spot than usual if you venture south.

Second Beach

Second Beach

Nextdoor you'll find Middletown, RI with beautiful sandy beaches for those looking to relax. We recommend Second Beach (Sachuest Beach). It has bathrooms, showers, a concession stand and more. Third Beach is another option nearby, with fewer waves. Keep in mind that July is a prime time for beaches, so it may be best to Uber rather than trying to find parking.
