Question

Why New Orleans?

Answer

New Orleans is a city we love for its music, culture, food, history, and sense of celebration. Hosting our wedding during Mardi Gras allows us to share one of the most unique and joyful traditions in the world with our family and friends. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you!

Question

How do I get to New Orleans?

Answer

Most guests will arrive via Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), which is approximately 20-30 minutes from downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter. Guests may also choose to travel by Amtrak through New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal or drive from nearby cities throughout the Gulf Coast region. For additional transportation details, airport information, and travel recommendations, please visit our Travel & Accommodations page.

Question

What are some recommended areas to stay besides the French Quarter?

Answer

While the French Quarter & Downtown Canal Street is a popular place for visitors, there are several other great neighborhoods to consider depending on your preferences. The Lower Garden District and St. Charles Avenue offer beautiful historic homes, easy access to the streetcar line, and a quieter atmosphere while still being close to downtown attractions. The Marigny, located just east of French Quarter, is known for its colorful architecture, local music scene, and a walkable access to many popular destinations. Mid-City is another favorite, offering local restaurants, City Park, and a more residential feel. For guests seeking additional hotel options and lower rates, Metairie provides a suburban alternative with access to downtown by uber or car. No matter where you choose to stay, New Orlean's compact layout makes it easy to explore all the city has to offer!

Question

How should I get around New Orleans?

Answer

The French Quarter and surrounding downtown areas are very walkable. Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are widely available, and streetcars provide a fun way to explore the city. Please allow extra travel time during Mardi Gras due to parade-related street closures.

Question

Will there be Mardi Gras parades during the wedding weekend?

Answer

Yes! One of the reasons we chose this weekend is because it falls during Mardi Gras season. Guests will have the opportunity to experience several parades before and after the wedding festivities. Please visit our Travel page for parade schedules and additional information.

Question

What should I expect from attending Mardi Gras Parades?

Answer

Mardi Gras parades feature elaborate floats, marching bands, costumes, music, and festive crowds. Riders often toss beads, cups, and other souvenirs known as "throws" to spectators. We encourage guests to join in the fun and experience this uniquely New Orleans Tradition. *It may be helpful to bring a bag or two, or make room for those souvenirs in your suitcases, depending on how long you are at the parades, items can accumulate quickly.*

Question

Can we join you for the Mardi Gras parades after the wedding?

Answer

Absolutely! We would love to have you join us. We're coordinating via this WhatsApp Group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/CyTllGL2vrqCF1sbSnGaPP Guest Parade Viewing location is located in the Schedule tab.
